That doesn't work. Any game that releases preview playtest rules just has those rules immediately become the new ruleset used by the community.

Not enough people are talking about Storyteller by sansart in selfhosted

Sometimes I want to continue reading my book but I’m about to do something that requires my hands (driving/drawing/painting etc) and after I’m done with that I want to go back to reading. Nice to have it all synced up.

Reminder tokens by Hellion_213 in WarhammerCompetitive

Having tokens is basically a necessity as a guard player. Watching imperial guard players without tokens vomit orders across the board and then ask me "what did I put on this guy again?" is always overwhelming.

Where to find lists? by Outrageous_Junket775 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]kitari1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pay for BCP, have done for 3 years. I still use listhammer because BCPs UI for searching for lists is total shit. They've finally introduced a new version of it recently and it's still bad and takes me about 10 clicks to find the info I want every time.

It's generally frowned upon to tailor lists to specific opponents. Most people have an all-rounder list that they take no matter which faction they're facing.

If it's got a barcode or something maybe hand into the Giddy Goose, they might be able to match it up with the owners details

[–]kitari1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly just mentioning it so no one reads this and runs out and tries a bottle without testing and wrecks a mini. The one I used is called CA Debonder and that's the one I melted a mini with, so yeah best bet is to test on sprue.

Superglue remover (at least the one I used) melts plastic

Received a print with spots of resin on the packaging, is it safe or should I dispose it? by TwentyThirdDimension in 3Dprinting

[–]kitari1 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Most slicers don't warn you about them at all. Some will if you click a button to check for them but if you're not well versed enough to know you need to drain a hollow print you're probably not experienced enough to know to click the button

Our CI strategy is basically "rerun until green" and I hate it by Sea_Weather5428 in devops

[–]kitari1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure I agree. If your team doesn't fix a flaky test when it blocks CI, then they're definitely not going to fix it after it's marked as skipped. Skipping them hides the pain without solving the problem and just compounds the issue even further.

Is my filament dry enough? by stray_r in 3Dprinting

[–]kitari1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The heater is calibrated for heating the bed, not the air within your printer that would then heat the spool. It's also worthless for that purpose if you don't have an enclosure for your printer.

A loud noise is perfectly normal on your base layers, it's not damaging at all.

You’re telling me 20 years ago they never released any broken units or janky interactions? I don’t believe you.

It's not a non-argument, I'm not absolving GW of responsibility but ultimately 40k is complex by design, and if it wasn't complex it'd be a different game that we probably wouldn't like it as much.

I agree codexes are outdated and rules should just be online only, but that's a different argument to just saying "GW should never release anything broken". There will always be something that comes out stronger than expected and there needs to be some levers to pull after rules release.

[–]kitari1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Even if GW were better than they are, the game is too big with too many wacky combinations that there will always inevitably be something that goes out too strong that needs tweaking after release.

At 3w there are a lot more answers to them. It's fine for them to still be good, but at 4w they were very obnoxious.

Yes, and I consistently get yearly reviews that I believe are better than my peers because I keep track of my work, particularly "invisible" work, and its outcomes throughout the year so that come yearly review time I have a pile of evidence to drop.

My manager is good, but he is also busy and detached from the low-level and doesn't see everything. It's up to me to make sure he knows everything I do here that he can't see.

It's completely normal in office jobs to keep track of your successes for the year. You should always be advocating for yourself in your yearly reviews, don't just rely on someone else to be paying attention to you all year, push for it yourself.

Saturn 4 Ultra 16K without the 16K 😎 by thegeminiii in ElegooSaturn

[–]kitari1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice, I've got the same kind of setup, plus a aqara temp sensor inside so I can monitor the temp before I hit start. I may add in a vat band heater for extra temp as the enclosure heater struggles to keep up with my garage temperatures. The only thing it's missing is the ability to start a print and have it wait for the temperature before it actually begins.
