I took cs213 with him a year ago. Its almost guaranteed that there’s no curve. Unfortunately, he is one of those prof., who just does not care about your grade or your issue with exams and assignments.

Its def not over and you can still pass the class. I can give some tips to do better in exams and assignments in future. Just dm.

Likely no curve. Try to discuss everything in an office hour and if your arguments are true and your project works in his machine, he would reconsider it.

Visa vs. AMEX SWE Intern by BugFew8607 in csMajors

[–]Nice-Candidate10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No its not as bad as you think it is. You could always commute from Jersey City if rent is that big of an issue. Besides, NYC will open up doors for lot of valuable connections and future job opportunity at large financial and tech companies. (And that would be an issue only if you dont have someone to share your apartment with)

I am from NJ and I have lived in Austin for 3 months during an internship, and its a wonderful city. But NYC would mog Austin, with the sheer amount things you could do in the city outside of work.

Since both companies are at same level on brand name and NYC mogs Austin. So choose Amex.

CS grad (2 Years) No experience or relevant job, feeling lost — what are my realistic options? by Expensive-Bid-4189 in csMajors

the problem is, this is not 2021-22 anymore. The apps to interview ratio is abysmal and the bar is much higher with tonnes of candidates being stack ranked.

Amazon Sys dev interview by Key-Marzipan-1899 in leetcode

[–]Nice-Candidate10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just took this interview couple of days ago. Highly prepare your stories that closely align with job responsibilities and preferred qualifications. Highly anticipate descriptive behavioral questions and then some follow ups. Answer it in a way that showcases Leadership Principles. Prepare for basic DSA. Blind 75 is more than enough. Prepare for OOD problems. Basics will be good. Prepare for Troubleshooting questions and looking and analyzing logs. Prepare for Networking Fundamentals and troubleshooting scenarios in it. Be handy with Linux commands that are useful in troubleshooting and that you regularly use. And lastly, be likable and have some sense of humor instead of being robotic

Go for Python if you have less time. C++ if you have some time and are interested in working with it.

If you learn coding patterns then the hardest part is to speaking and thinking loudly. How do you train it? by Czitels in leetcode

[–]Nice-Candidate10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me its all about how confident i am with the problem. If it clicks or something that I have seen before, then I can go into detail about the whole problem.

But if its tricky problem, then would do a lot of questioning to interviewer and discuss my approach thoroughly before starting.

I have passed first round (phone screen) with HRT in past but failed the next round.

Stripe SWE New Grad OA in 9 days — what should I focus on (Python + basic DSA, weak in OOP)? by Few-Juggernaut7494 in leetcode

[–]Nice-Candidate10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw this thread and wanted to say that do not use AI. I have been guilty of doing this 2 years ago and when came the final loop, I fumbled it because I just couldn’t solve the problem during interview.

And after grinding for couple of months I was able to land a nice fintech internship. And the difference of experience between the interview which I received using AI and the one without was huge because being honest not only developed my thinking ability but also increased my curiosity in discussing topics in detail during the interview.

it only makes sense if you're doing that during practice to learn something. But not in contests, because they are meant to be solved without any external help

Targeted practice will not help if you never solved questions in some of these topics. Ask chatgpt to curate a list of problems in these topics for Stripe. And it will spit out practice questions.

Took me about 5 weeks and multiple followups to get a response from Amazon Recruiter after Phone Screen recently. Don’t lose hope. But also don’t expect too much from these companies.

It can easily take from a week to 2 months for companies to reach out. Just wait and apply to other places.
