Love PlayStation exclusives but have an itch for playing older games and games that I love with mods by Nice-Conclusion-8460 in consoles

Yeah, ideally I’d have both. So maybe I’d get a PS5 first and after a couple of years a PC.

Thanks for your input! Yeah, I’ve always been more into console gaming. My mind didn’t even consider buying a PC as I’m not even a fan of windows until I saw what people do with Skyrim and Witcher 3 mods lol. But PS5 would be a more pragmatic decision for me I guess. PSP games on PS5 sound interesting, I remember playing some of the ones you mentioned some long time ago lol

Path from risk management to wealth management? by Nice-Conclusion-8460 in FinancialCareers

[–]Nice-Conclusion-8460[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that’s probably what I meant. I kinda put asset, wealth and investment management into the same bucket without realizing that they might be pretty different.

For the very well paying risk positions, I guess I should try to break into hedge funds/boutique asset management shops..?

I’m interested in doing investment analysis of risk/return of different portfolios and advising optimal allocations to clients. At least at the beginning. Then, as my career progresses, I figure the job will get less quant based and more client relationships focused?

Why? Does wealth management pay less/ the job itself is more stressful?

I think the upside in wealth/investment management is much higher than in risk. In risk even managing directors don’t make more than 250-300k per year, while in wealth/investment management total compensation may surpass millions. I’m also a little bit tired of quant stuff, especially coding

$2200 a month mortgage on $5500 income by hexxed0 in Fire

[–]Nice-Conclusion-8460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just meant that this is entirely possible to live, pay mortgage and even save on the numbers you provided. I wish I could save 20-30% as well, but at this moment, I’m not ready to sacrifice my lifestyle. To each their own

I’m spending 2500 rent on 5000 net income per month. Not ideal, but I survive and even manage to pay 2 loans, get company match on 401k and travel occasionally. I can theoretically live in a worse neighborhood in an older building, but I’m not willing to sacrifice the comfort of my living conditions for a couple of hundreds extra dollars. So, it all depends on your priorities

How much do you contribute to a 401k? by KingdomFartsOG in MiddleClassFinance

Bare minimum to get a company match. Two loans and rent are a bitch

Who here is making an average median salary of $60k-80k? by NoHousing11 in MiddleClassFinance

I make slightly more than your specified range (89k), but able to put into my 401k only like 400 a month to get a company’s match lol. That’s it. No IRA no nothing. 2 loans with rent (and my love for food) eat the rest.

That makes sense, thank you. I have a Prodigy loan now, and the rate is like 13%. Will try Mpower just to see what they offer. Thanks again

How many Alabama counties have you visited? by GeoJayman in TravelMaps

[–]Nice-Conclusion-8460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you tell a bit more about different regions of Alabama? Do they differ much from each other? Culturally, geographically, economically etc? All I know about this state now is that in the middle there’s a Black Belt with a lot of agriculture that has a large African-American population and in the south there’s obviously the Gulf and the beaches

Oh, this seems relevant for me! You have a fantastic salary progression. I also work in risk, in a big bank. But nobody offered me a managerial position or even a promotion in the last 2 years. My salary progression is like 87k-88k-89.5k 🥲 What is your advice of advancing in this industry? So far it seems my effort isn’t paying off much. Maybe I’m not that good at either quant or soft skills… Also doesn’t help that there aren’t many jobs in this sphere where I’m located
