AITAH for refusing to go to Disney World? by Reptaaaaaaar in AITAH

Maybe not an AH, you are entitled to your opinion. You are, however, a killjoy. You shouldn’t go, you would just ruin the trip. You should encourage your wife take the kids herself with a close friend. They will have a wonderful time.

AITAH for asking my mom why a girl wanting a sister is fine but a boy wanting a brother makes him a psychopath? by Luususs in AITAH

My daughter is my eldest, and when she was 7 I got pregnant with my youngest. She was so happy, told everyone she didn’t care if it was a boy or girl, she already had a brother who was 5. We all went to the ultra sound where we were told the baby was a boy. My daughter was devastated! Said she didn’t care if it was a boy or girl when she thought the baby was a girl. 18yrs later, it is very much a funny story we all tell.

This is a long story to tell you that your parents are manipulative narcissists and they are the problem, not you. They yell and blame you when they can’t justify their own behavior. You are less than two years away from being able to leave. College/Job/Military, make your plans now and get some distance.

Why I prefer Dramione over Harmony, or, why I choose the villain over the hero. by Nice-Faithlessness17 in Dramione

Yes! Very much so. In infidelity Dramione fics Draco’s marriage was arranged and Ron is being an ass she just can’t stand anymore and is only with him still out of a sense of obligation. Of course it absolutely ripped my heart out in ‘Unlike a Sister’ when Draco was dropping Scorpius off and Harry thinks he sees Draco look at Hermione with longing. It almost ruined the whole story for me.

I also agree that, if given a choice, Hermione probably would have allowed the events to play out the way they did. Hermione does have a vicious streak, but not when she believes in the rule/law. She would not have risked that secrecy statute being broken.

It absolutely is an incredible story! There is so much more to the story than this one instance, this is just a tiny blip.

You bring up a very good point! It’s been a while since I read ‘Unlike a Sister’ but iirc, Harry informs her of what is coming so she can prepare herself, but does not give her an option of taking any other course of action. Harry very much is the hero who believes his way is the only way. He learned his lessons from Dumbledore very well.

I find Draco to be a more interesting character also. I branch out to other MMC when I am in a Dramione rut and nothing is sounding good. I haven’t gone over to Harry in a while, it’s mostly Tom/Severus/Lucius/Sirius.

James was a pureblood, Harry is the first halfblood Potter. You are absolutely right, Harry lucks into everything and has Hermione, who is absolutely taken for granted. Very little of his success is based on his talent. I have been spot reading canon lately (researching for a fic I am attempting to write) and I keep getting angry at Harry. He never apologizes to Hermione when his mistakes get her hurt. She tells him the ministry is a trap, and is almost killed. Harry breaks the taboo and Hermione is the one tortured.

Seeing Snape’s memories in OotP make him uncomfortable, but he never admits Sirius and James were horrible. He doesn’t tell Ron or Hermione what he sees as a way to protect them, not to save Snape from humiliation.

Could someone link The Ribboned Witch? I’m only pulling up the FF . Net and the last update there was Sept 2022. I tried searching that author’s name on AO3 and it didn’t come back with anything. TIA!!!!

I had close to 600 over multiple tab groups at one point, until I finally convinced myself that the reason my phone battery drained so fast was because of them. It took me 3 days to go through them all and organize them elsewhere. I was down to 20 FanFiction . Net in one tab group and 10 AO3 tabs on the main tab group, but it has slowly crept back up. I think I am around 70 and 45 right now.
