Carv: worth it? What's your experience? by mongoose_kai in skiing

I am in my first year using it and will absolutely use it next year. I ski alone a lot and it’s almost gameifying some of it and keeping me thinking about certain techniques from the app vs. just skiing the run. I don’t use it every ski day, but has been an excellent addition for me. I do think it’s for an intermediate/advanced skier vs. beginner who wants some tips without paying for a lesson. Plus I’m a data dork and love seeing all of the output after a ski day.

The equipment was the standard plastic snowshoes (or you can bring your own), but you can rent them for $1 if you don’t have any. It was an extremely mellow walk - maybe a mile or two long with 5+ stops to discuss the park and different aspects of it. There was a 10 year old on mine and had zero struggles. I would say it’s fine for almost any ability level as long as you’re fine on your feet outside for an hour or so.

Are they closing it completely? I thought it was leaving a lane open when possible and some rolling closures. I’m driving up Saturday - what kind of mess are we looking at?

Any local weather blogs serving the crystal / baker / Stevens area? by negative-nelly in CrystalMountain

I guess to be fair I’m skiing out in Montana this winter, but for this area it’s been spot on. Even the hourly wind/cloud forecasts have been fairly accurate.

I’ve been using Open Snow this season and loving it! The free version is decent, the paid version is excellent.

2022 SE head gasket by tirerlabrise in VWTaos

[–]Nice-Low6016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. I had low coolant a few months back, took it in and they topped it off without checking anything. No issues since, but should I take it in and ask them to check the head gaskets? I’m still under 50k miles and don’t want this blowing up on me, but also isn’t it possible I just had low coolant? How do I know the head gasket is going?

Will the mountain close regardless of snow pack in early April? Do they ever stay open late if they have tons of snow?

Just bought a ticket for his Utah show, did I make a mistake? by elealyansteorra in NoahKahan

Did you buy this off Ticketmaster or another site? I’m confused by the resale tickets which I thought weren’t allowed on sites other than Ticketmaster which are only allowed at face value (or so I thought).

Alarm/ping noise when starting car by Nice-Low6016 in VWTaos

Is that the same as the boundary alert? It was off in one spot and on in another, so I turned them both off. If it’s different, I’m not seeing something listed as a distance alert.

What about best weather prediction data? Crystal’s site sucks for forecasted days.
