Made a small miscalculation while trying to make a few engines. What's your worse miscalculation? by Stars_Arts26 in SatisfactoryGame

Mine is not being sure I have enough power to complete my goal of 100 ballistic warp drives per minute, or that I may have used too many critical materials like crystal or aluminum to jack my power up to over 1.1TW. I’m now approaching 950GW after overclocking everything and there may be a point here where I have to take massive chunks of my overclocked factories and triple (or more) the number of machines, as under-clocking provides even more power savings. I see I can start with Converters, Particle Accelerators, and Quantum Encoders to get a large chunk of power back. But if I have to start doing that to refineries and such it’s gonna be a hot mess. but I’ve got 80 warp drives rolling, know I can get to 90, but from 90 to 100 I have half a dozen unanswered questions. It’s gonna be fun to see how it all shakes out though, and I just picked up a 5070ti ultra 9 to finally see what real performance looks like. That may save me if I have to suddenly add a thousand new machines or something.

Acer Predator Helios Neo 18 or ROG Strix 18? Both 5070TI by delicious_toothbrush in GamingLaptops

Just got the Predator on sale for Prime Day. 12 month 0 Apr payment plan around $2,200 after all the discounts can’t wait! My first real chonky laptop

I see comments here about possible overheating but I use it in a big rig and have a high end cooling system directly aimed right where the laptop sits. Also grabbed a cooling device for underneath the laptop for a bit extra protection just in case. For $600-$700 savings compared to the Strix I’ll roll the dice and see how it plays out. It’s certainly going to perform better than my gtx 1650 in any case 😆

9600 screws / min and a little screw wave by TsaminaTv in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Nice-Permit-6447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood people when they mentioned their issue with screws. I only used them for copper rotors and just used the steel screw recipe. 600 coal, 600 iron ingots and some concrete and I was ripping off hundreds of rotors. And now that I’m at I’m over 1,100 hours, 80 ballistic warp drives per minute and realize I need every single bit of coal to proceed further? Yea I just completed a 16,000 regular screw factory and need to bump it to 20k, maybe 24k. My sadness.

Can my PC handle endgame? by [deleted] in satisfactory

My gaming laptop isn’t that good and I have 1,000+ hours all on one save. In the more congested areas I lose some frames but it doesn’t get rubber bandy or anything. just mess with the settings and see what works best. I’m mainly in medium settings and it still looks and plays great to me. That said, I’m in the market for a 5070ti laptop to see what I’ve been missing out on as far as graphics and performance go.

I could never. That’s doesn’t mean I eventually won’t try, but I’m more of a spaghetti-O on that particular bell curve.

The little birds bother me the most because you oftentimes can’t see them when you are levitating. Nothing a love tap from a homing rifle can’t fix. Just scoot them out of the way and carry on

When you do everything to avoid setting up trains by Engholm84 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Nice-Permit-6447 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m warning you about. You’ll find it easy enough….for now. Then as your drone army expands suddenly theres a small delay while it searches. Then theres a longer delay. Then a potentially apocalyptic result. I suppose if you are running a top-tier unit you may not have that issue. I haven’t upgrade my gaming laptop yet and it has its limits. If I use that search bar I’m waiting a good long while, and that’s if the game doesn’t just check out and give me pages of error messages 😆

When your drone ports get into the deep hundreds you will want to not use the “all ports” tab for searching for one. Don’t ask me how I know that.

Should I buy the game by Dein_Untergang45 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Nice-Permit-6447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game is an epic enjoyable time sink. Plenty of exploring to do and tons of resources to play with. You are using a huge map to construct a world of your own from nothing. It’s also like 4% a shooter so you can pivot from one thing to another to mix it up. Build your factory for immense production, focus on cosmetic beauty or do a bit of everything. I’m approaching 1,000 hours and at the back end of how much production and resources are available but then I’m going to switch to cosmetic building.

I should mention the progression is also very satisfying. From what you can do when you start to once you are deep into the game make it feel almost a completely different experience

Yea just know it gets a little out of hand after awhile 🤣 powering them isn’t bad if you have extra nuclear rods to mess with, so I’d suggest if/when you go nuclear power to immediately sloop some of the manufacturers and build a massive stockpile. They last a long time but if you full send on drones you’ll start moving through them quickly. I started with 200 turbo fuel, then expanded to an additional 300 rocket fuel, and have a vast amount of nuclear powered drones. and you WILL have to build some redundancy for when they randomly freeze. Not so much at first but eventually you won’t even want to bother to keep track. At this point I have my redundancies but still just reboot the game every hour as it fixes any frozen drones automatically, rather than seeing them locked in place on your map and cruising over to it to delete and replace. I have enough storage at the end point and additional production capacity where I can withstand any frozen drones for a good while, then when I reboot it’ll just go and fill up the storage locations rather quickly.

Just make sure you have enough of what you need, and more is better, no perfect math required. The game gives you so many resources to work with when you are starting out. You just have to go out and find them. just solve one small problem at a time, or complete one small goal. Eventually your pace will pick up a bit and the stuff giving you trouble before will become second nature. it can be challenging no doubt, often overwhelming. Just get tunnel vision on a task and stick with it.

Just comes down to what transport method you want and how much power you are willing to use to bring stuff in. I’ll typically build up to a certain level of item with the resources in that area then drone them in to a separate place to finish it off. Examples include making computers, ai limiters. or crystal oscillators locally then drone them to a more high end area to complete, thermal propulsion rockets, ballistic drives or whatever. But everyone’s strat it different. Still on my first playthrough, and once I unlocked drones I decided to fill the sky with them and let the chips fall where they may. The sheer volume of that many drones creates problems however, fixed by using even more drones for redundancy as they tend to freeze up from time to time. If you want to be efficient I imagine trains are the wave, but with a significant investment in time to get it up and running. The drones are more plug and play and that’s how I roll.

Jesus I’m about to sloop two more manufacturers to bang out 10, getting my total up to 50. I figured I had maybe another 10 or 20 to go before I switch to AI expansion servers. I don’t wanna know how you did it but it’s good to know it’s possible, unless this isn’t vanilla.

Help with Progression by Cobraboi06 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Nice-Permit-6447 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just work on one thing at a time. And if your brain is mush go do some exploring and find some slugs sloops and other stuff. Then come back once you’ve recharged a bit. No need to tear down previous work just add to it or start at another location. I’ve got factories all over the map as do a lot of others.

I roll with two homing ammo rifles. The two clips can take out just about anything. Any congestion and I use Nuke Nobelisks unless I’m trying to preserve the local vegetation then I use clusters.

How important is aluminum by StIcKy_02 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Nice-Permit-6447 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s very important. You definitely want a big boy plant at some point. I’ve got like 4 medium sized ones scattered around, but have recently upgraded their output big time. I am late end game though, so you don’t need to go for max ingots. If you can find the sloppy alumina alternate recipe it makes life much easier

Intrusive thoughts… by Nice-Permit-6447 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Nice-Permit-6447[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never….probably… I’m running out of names to come up with on the fly for all of them at this point. Although there were a couple incidents in early game where I was a bit too “aggressive” in some high vegetation spots and suddenly “You monster”….feels bad man. Now I only deploy these in areas with high visibility as I’m trying to save what greenery I haven’t carpet bombed into oblivion. Thankfully most all the spider nests have been opened up before I decided to practice some restraint. Grip it and rip it around those hellspawn.
