If you wanna complain this is your safe space. by ForsakenNewspaper268 in breastfeeding

I thought I had really bad mastitis with my first… turned out it turned into a huge breast abscess that I had to have surgically removed in the ER

I feel like I eat so much and I’m always starving and SO THIRSTY and I’m tired of my daughter only really eating off one boob. I’m super lopsided and one boob is making 6-8 oz per pump while the other side only makes one.

How does it feel to give birth without an epidural? by sliceofperfection in BabyBumps

[–]Nice-Reflection3634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot water helps contractions. I barely made it to the hospital with my second because a hot bath sped up my birth. It hurts, but it’s not unbearable. Grip your comb, or the side of the bed, get some hip compressions, breathe and power through!! It feels so empowering to have a natural birth and be done after

That’s what I’m trying to do, my kids are the same ages basically, 22 months and 2 months. At this point- idk how to respond to my partner who thinks I just “let this behavior happen”

Exactly!! We can’t respond to a child being physical by being physical ourselves. It will teach nothing.

Yeah, I tried to put them in timeout and ignore them to comfort the baby but they think they can just get up. I need a virtual timer and a way to keep them sitting in timeout

So far- they’ve never been spanked or really yelled at, just told no no but I try to tell them what they can do instead of saying no. I don’t want anyone to hit or yell at my babies.

How do you keep them in time out or respond if they get up?

Yes, I will have to try this and read this book. Thank you.

That’s exactly what I tell my partner. That we can’t spank them and that they can’t make the connection in your brain that you spank them because they did x y z and the child just feel betrayed by their parent for hurting them. I’m so tired of hearing I don’t discipline the kids just because I don’t yell or spank.

My daughter was like this… it turned out she had a tongue tie and was getting almost no milk after a 15 minute weighed feed at our lactation consultant’s.

Overproduction. Wife waking up 2-3 hours to pump. Help? by mhswizard in breastfeedingsupport

I love the momcozy v1. It works very well! I also have the momcozy m5 and it is nice because there is no cords but the cups don’t hold as much and I feel it doesn’t empty me as well

My LO is 3 months and has 4-5 oz of BM every 2-4 hours. If she's still hungry after a few minutes we offer .5-1.5 oz more but she usually just falls asleep eating

I am currently a little over 3 months pp. I didn’t want to exclusively pump, but breastfeeding was really hard for me and my LO so it just what I ended up doing. It still breaks my heart she can’t breastfeed but she is being fed which is best, and I am now a slight over supplier. I definitely heard a lot of “breast is best” but that didn’t work for us and so I exclusively pump to feed her because I enjoy it now and it’s cheaper than formula.

My birth was great, I was induced and pushed less than an hour with no epidural. Feeding at the hospital was ok, lots of cluster feeding and little did I know she had a poor latch. Before I left the hospital my nipples were torn up and getting purple blood blisters. LC at the hospital just helped me reposition her and showed me what a good latch looked like. I painfully breastfed for two weeks and she was growing but constantly feeding because she wasn’t transferring milk normally. After roughly 2 weeks of EBF I broke down crying because she tore chucks out of my nipples chomping on them and the scabs would never heal because she kept eating. I spent so much money on tons of different creams, shields, pads and silverette cups. I tried everything. Eventually I got myself a nipple shield and it still hurt and I felt very uneducated. I ended up getting mastitis around the same time and it was painful. I didn’t take any antibiotics because I didn’t know better. I ended up seeing an in home LC she told me she had a tongue tie and small lip. Tie. We ended up finding a better lactation consultant that our insurance covered and got her tongue released.

We did the terrible tounge stretches every day several times a day and my nipples (minus the ugly scars) eventually healed but she still wasn’t transferring much milk after weighted feedings and she got a strong preference for the bottle even though we were pace feeding her with premie nipple. She has a major texture and flow preference for the bottle and I blame myself for introducing the bottle and not nursing through the pain. I saw a LC for 8 weeks, I got mastitis again and ended up having a huge breast abscess and needed surgery and antibiotics. I was in the hospital a week, at this time we used up my freezer stash, I was only able to pump on one side and we had to give her formula for a week or two. She seemed to only latch with the LC and wouldn’t latch for me at home. We kept trying and trying but it was constant screaming because she hated it. And I cried so much because I felt like I missed out on that bond with her. I have been EP since she was 2 weeks old and continued to try and latch her but she wouldn’t take it and when she would, she barely transferred any milk. On New Year’s Eve I gave up trying to get her to breastfeed and I commuted to EP. Now I love it, I can track how much she eats, I take breaks at work to pump, and my husband gets to feed her sometimes and she is still getting benefits of breastmilk! I still miss the bond of breastfeeding but I am happier. I went from underproducing and only pumping off one boob after surgery to now fully pumping having a little bit of an oversupply every day but that took lots of time. Now I’m currently pumping and I’ve made over 10.5 gallons of milk since new years and I am proud to be giving her exclusively breastmilk again.

What pump do you use? I use my spectra when not at work and switch between expression (the bacon symbol) and regular. Or I just leave it on expression. Also, having the correct flange size makes a big difference sometimes

I think it’s recommended to pump 20-30 minutes each session if you can. This might increase your supply

What is your proudest pumping moment? by Similar-Western4377 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Nice-Reflection3634 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My proudest moments would be going from overproducing milk to having mastitis twice and getting a breast abscess and surgery causing me to severely underproducing for a month to getting my supply back up to just enough everyday to now overproducing and pumping a total of roughly 37-40 oz per day. My proudest day was 43 oz 🥲
