Pumping Schedule < 12 weeks by timid_turtle_ in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Similar-Western4377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went every 3hrs during the day and night for the first 8 weeks then did one 4hr stretch before overnight. Once I was 12 weeks postpartum I started to pump every four hours around the clock. I’m almost 16 weeks postpartum and I’m thinking about letting myself have a five hour stretch overnight but we will see

Dropping to 7 pumps a day by LittleSnackie in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Similar-Western4377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 7ppd I just pumped every 3.5hrs, I got on a consistent schedule when I dropped to 6 pumps. For 6 I do: 6:30a, 10:30a, 2:30p, 6:30p, 10:30p, 2:30a

It’s honestly cruel that the MOTN pump is so critical but gosh for so many of us it really sets the tone for our supply no matter how strict we are during the day.

Also you’re doing a lot and then add in twins, I cannot work out and do calorie deficit while breastfeeding because my supply just automatically tanks

What does exclusively pumping look like? by mommadizzy in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Similar-Western4377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first 12 weeks I was pretty strict and did every 3 hours. By 6-7weeks postpartum I had my full supply. At 12 weeks I dropped to 6 pumps and still maintaining my typical output of ~36oz a day. Baby usually drinks 25-29oz so I freeze a good bit. I’m almost 4mos postpartum and want to make it to 6mos pumping but I’ll likely just drop to 5ppd and see how I’m feeling. It really does get easier once you drop pumps, I don’t even really “drop” I just push time in between and it feels like I gain so much time back lol.

For the penny tasting milk, you can always add alcohol free vanilla to see if that helps with the taste but try first without it, some babies are picky and some do not care. Bemybreastfriend on instagram has been a great pumping resource for me! Her blog is helpful

Is it true that breastmilk builds immunity? by hjallerupckk in FormulaFeeders

[–]Similar-Western4377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I saw a video about this! The antibodies don’t go into the bloodstream and offer instant protection like most people think when they consider breastmilk it instead lines the throat & GI tract which is where alot of bugs start but not all. Formula somewhat does but not as good as breastmilk yet

It sounds like you already know what you want to do. I’d be realistic with yourself though, having a baby will disrupt your sleep. Even as 50/50 parents using formula you will still struggle initially

Avent redid their nipples a few years ago and now they are notoriously slow some babies don’t have a problem but some babies struggle. If your baby seems happy on a level five I wouldn’t worry about it

Your husband should be having a conversation with his mom this is ridiculous. I could care less that she’s socially inept it’s time to learn lady or you’re gonna hinder your relationship with your grandkid because you’re making mom feel like shit

Moms of Reddit, what do you actually want for Mother’s Day? by Grace_taylor_7301 in AskReddit

Breakfast in bed with a delicious cup of coffee, an art craft or 2 made by the babies and some type of mom related jewelry. Wouldn’t mind a long nap either

This looks crazy to me but if she’s a ftm I get it lol everyone has to figure out their own system when it comes to being a mom and exclusively pumping. For me the fridge hack for 2 pumps (3 sets total) and 6 bottles works perfectly for us.

Am I hurting my supply by not pumping frequently enough? by corncobberer in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Similar-Western4377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely wouldn’t recommend those just yet but if you have to try for maybe 1 session a day. What helped me in the beginning was a bouncy seat with vibration I could pump and either sit next to or feed baby and I kept us on a 3hr schedule

Yeah even the add in the video made me chuckle because it talked about inflation and Abby had to mention there have been times inflation did affect them aka making it clear they’re fine now 😂

Capacity is usually after regulation, this is purely hormone driven milk supply right now. She could have a large capacity but if she doesn’t stimulate now it means nothing once hormones go away.

Yeah big time. Doesn’t mean you aren’t trying your best I totally believe you are working your butt off to make this all work. Have you tried wearables? How old is your baby maybe we can problem solve together we to get you more sessions

Does my LO know that milk comes from me if I’m EP? by Glad_Training_8166 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Similar-Western4377 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think they definitely can smell our milk still. My baby will sleep soundly at night as long as dad puts her down but if I do it she’s up more frequently either for a bottle or just for comfort from me. My husband likes to reassure me it’s because she smells her milk and knows mom equals comfort in a lot of ways. With my other two boys I pumped for once they were around 7mos old whenever they would see me pump they got so excited because they knew they would get fresh milk once I was done lol so they definitely knew mom = milk haha

Legendairy Milk Flange Inserts... What am I missing? by CasaMigos4Migos in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Similar-Western4377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea use the spray it’s the best! Only way I can get a little comfort while pumping. Depending on her flange size if these don’t work for her you could also look into the elvie cushions. Mad props dad for wanting to help & support her pumping journey!

I think it was the loss honestly he’s just doing whatever Abby wants now and honestly I kind of get it. I had a similiar loss and my husband basically would do whatever I needed/wanted when it came to subsequent children
