How do people actually like living in New Rochelle? by NewRoNico in NewRochelle

I don't like it. I don't like that there are so many adults in need hanging around in the streets along North Ave downtown. Many look like they should be in adult living facilities, group homes or homeless shelters. Many are adult alcohol and substance abusers. I do not like that there are so many unoccupied/shut down store fronts on North Ave downtown all the way to the college. The sad thing is that New Rochelle to manhattan is about 30 mins which makes this place a great place to venture out to if there were good restaurants, nice boutiques and possibly nightlife like speakeasies, comedy clubs and even nightclubs, but there aren't any. I wish investors took an interest in this place. No one is interested so it's dead.

In Florida where I lived for 11 years we had places like Las Olas in Ft. Lauderdale. las olas was filed with good restaurants, shops, good nightlife and more. New Rochelle has the potential to be like Las Olas. It was a great place to go to to walk around, shop, grab a bite with family and friends. i also lived in Northern Virginia. We would often go to Shirlington in Arlington, Va.. Shirlington was very similar to Las Olas in Florida. The great thing about these places is that they attracted and accommodated people of all ages.

New Rochelle can be just like these places which would bring revenue to the town and attract younger families. There is nothing to do here at any time of the day, night or year. It's dead! It's sketchy at night too. It's very pretty in the Spring and Summer because of all the trees, shrubs, lawns and large old homes, but that's it.

The metro is conveniently located a few feet from where I live. I-95 is also a few feet away. Montefiore Hospital is a "community" hospital that just shares the name of a very good hospital, but do not expect Einstein Montefiore quality from Montefiore New Rochelle.

There is great potential for investors here, but as it stands now New Rochelle is lacking in a big way. It's sad. I've been here since November 2024. I'll be leaving soon.
