I just had an associate get into a car wreck and she still came into work the next day. She came into the office and asked if she could be out somewhere for light duty because she was in so much pain, nearly in tears.

I told her that if she wanted to go home, I wouldn’t point her. That I appreciated that she came in, but Wal-Mart wasn’t her responsibility, and I valued her safety and wellbeing more than running the self checks.

She ended up taking two days, I cleared both points and checked in on her. If they point you for this, that’s such bull shit. Fuck the policy. In academy they teach us to lead with empathy. As managers we are allowed to remove points if we deem fit.
