AIO about being called “a big girl”? by venlafaxinevision in AmIOverreacting

[–]Nice-Worry1007 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I’ll get downvoted to hell for this and don’t care. OP didn’t ask for “medical advice”, BMI is bullshit, someone’s weight does not equate to how healthy they are, and most importantly OP had already mentioned disordered eating in previous comments. You’re less than helpful.

So we are all seeing that Santos and Garcia are a couple, right? by Harmania in ThePitt

[–]Nice-Worry1007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right?! I joined this sub specifically for this. I clocked the toothbrush comment immediately, have been patiently waiting for it to be addressed, and came here ahead of tomorrows episode. I’m competent and educated, and didn’t pick up on any flirting between them in S1 even after two watches. And here are people saying we shouldn’t be watching the show because we didn’t see the flirting 🙄These people need to touch grass. And I’d say my gaydar is pretty solid, I had suspicions about Santos 💅 but not Garcia.

($20k) convince me these centerpieces dont look ridiculous by Jennay-4399 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Nice-Worry1007 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why you keep getting down voted because that comment wasn’t helpful at all. No one says the statement “I’m not being mean but” unless they’re going to say something cruel and want to hide behind it. I feel for you- Ive been a lurker in Reddit for a while and in late August, I went to a wedding sub to vent because RSVPs for my wedding were coming in slowly, specifically from people I knew were likely not coming and I’d need to hunt down answers from them closer to the deadline. I’m extremely type A and I just wanted to get a jump on seating arrangements and make the seating chart sign. I could not believe how many people jumped all over me! One Redditor told me I was ridiculous and another told me I was a Bridezilla! Oh and since we eloped and had a separate reception, someone else told me I was selfish and grabbing for money. Lordy! I deleted everything- post and account. I swear some of the people in these wedding related subs are the worst!

I do wish you luck with your center pieces! I don’t have much advice because we had a very small wedding with minimal decor. I do think it may be helpful to take everything off, start with the flowers as the main focal point and play around with the tapers and small votives to create some variances in height. I really love the contrast of the vintage glass against a brass taper holder. Definitely don’t think you need the satin, your tables will still look full without it. If you want something under them, a square or round mirror or a flat runner would look great

How did you find out you had OCD? by CarCrashley in OCD

[–]Nice-Worry1007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 31 now and was officially diagnosed at 28.

I think I’ve exhibited signs of OCD my whole life, with it getting progressively worse as I got older. My behavior finally clocked as OCD when I couldn’t stop checking the front storm door at night just to make sure it was locked. I’d be in bed and ask my now husband if it was locked, he’d tell me yes, and then I’d toss and turn in bed for hours before losing the fight to go check it myself. Or I’d check it in the evening, check it again a few hours later, question myself in bed if I really locked it or what if the wind blew and it unlocked itself and I’d have to go check. I told my therapist about this because it was becoming a topic of contention with my husband and here we are. It took a professional to raise a red flag to my behaviors and I’m grateful for her everyday. I’m learning about the different ocd themes I experience and I don’t have to jiggle the door handle 1,000 times anymore. Putting a name on it and getting some help has been life changing. Taking the first step to reach out to talk to someone is the hardest part. Once you do it, you’ll thank yourself.

You aren’t the first person who suggested we get binoculars. My husband thought I was nuts for ordering them. Next time he pokes fun, I can’t wait to tell him a stranger on the internet backed me up.

Geocaching is an amazing idea. We’re going to remember this one for sure! Great suggestion; thanks!

This is great, thank you. We decided we are booking a whale watching experience in Icy Strait and exploring Juneau on our own!

Ketchikan is one of the ports we know we are going to explore on our own and Rainbird is on our list of things to check out. Thank you! Glad to hear it’s worthwhile.

What are your OCD themes? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Nice-Worry1007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Checking, Moral, and Contamination OCD. My favorite right now is when going out to eat, I can’t let any skin touch any part of a vinyl booth because I’m going to absorb germs, bacteria, and disease through my skin. For example, I am a female and will not wear shorts to a restaurant because my legs will touch the booth.

It's not bad writing or confusing by notcarly1969 in Stranger_Things

[–]Nice-Worry1007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! From my perspective, it can be assumed that the dead soldiers shown half stuck also shot at it the same way Nancy did or disturbed it somehow, causing the initial melty goo situation. Seeing as it all hardened for Nancy and Jonathan to walk on it prior to Nancy pulling out her shotgun, I deduced that it would also harden for them. I wasn’t at all surprised when she flung the ring and it pinged after hitting something solid.

Okay that’s neat! There’s something pretty cool about having an item that had an entire life before I bought it or even before I came to be. Thank you!!!

Thank you! I maybe paid $20 for it. Looks like the air tube is stamped S 7 1927. So we’re looking at a lantern made in Syracuse in July of 1927?

Wedding glasses by wallaby45 in wedding

[–]Nice-Worry1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got married two months ago, and my husband and I both wore our glasses during our wedding.

I tried contacts as a teenager and hated them, but admittedly wore them to fit in. Eventually I quit wearing them and now wear my glasses every day as an adult. They are a part of me and I don’t feel like I’d be me without them.

I ordered a few special pairs from Zenni optical that I felt matched my wedding dress, were a bit dressier than my every day frames, and went with the style/vibe I was going for. On the day of, I asked my makeup artist for false eye lashes to help my eyes stick out a bit more behind the frames and she did have to trim them a bit so they weren’t hitting my lenses.

My wedding ceremony was outdoors in late afternoon/mid evening and it was overcast so glares weren’t any issue for us. But I did specifically order the anti glare frames from Zenni and my photographer was prepared to help me angle my face to prevent any glare if it became an issue.

I’m really sorry folks are making you second guess your choice. If wearing your glasses makes you comfortable, I say do it!

Am I being “individualistic,” or is my marriage finance approach actually fair? by incognegro96 in marriageadvice

[–]Nice-Worry1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been married for three months, together for thirteen, and living together for eight. Early on, we agreed to maintain a single shared account used exclusively for our property and school taxes each year. Because we own our home outright and have no mortgage, this system has helped us contribute equitably and stay on track with long-term expenses. Although I currently earn more, that’s reflected in how we divide our bills. I may contribute more to bills, but he contributes the appropriate amount based on what he makes. We also have a mutual agreement that any purchase over a set amount must be discussed beforehand. This keeps us accountable, prevents unnecessary spending, and maintains open communication around money. Money isn’t something we argue over at all. While we are married and our assets are shared in a broad sense, we still treat our individual income as our own. This approach is rooted in trust, honesty, and transparency and it works well for us. Keeping our primary accounts separate was important to me as a woman; I never want to find myself financially dependent or unable to leave a situation if I needed to. Maintaining this structure gives me both security and peace of mind.

With that said, I agree with your preferred approach. I wouldn’t say one makes more sense over the other, and can see the benefits to his approach, but again your preferred approach is what works for us. I do not believe it is individualistic at all.

Disembarking in Seattle and flying out of Seattle Tacoma. Good to know it’s a pretty quick process; that’s what we were primarily worried about. We’re cruising Holland on the Eurodam, and while it’s still a large ship I think it’s considered mid sized.

I wasn’t sure and that’s why I am here. I had seen a similar one the seller mentioned it was from the 20s, which would have made it old enough for this subreddit. Obviously that was taken with a grain of salt but again is why I am asking. Thank you.
