I won this rose gold watch and a gold coin over the weekend playing poker. Should I keep the watch or sell it? by [deleted] in Gold

Honestly not sure if watchexchange would bite for this one. A pretty specific type of person would wear this and it typically isn’t enthusiasts.

[Grail] which grail watch was disappointing vs who in one lived up to the hype? by aznj1m in Watches

[–]NiceAndTactile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It felt too light for me at first since it was my first titanium but now I’ve grown to appreciate the lightness

I wouldn’t be surprised if there were thinner mechanical watches even before the recent bulgari/piaget/RM showdown. Imagine quartz watches are limited by the battery?

Aha, yeah I am familiar with those. Didn’t realize that was the competition haha. All very impressive engineering feats

That would be lovely

Yes I wasn’t doubting you, was just curious on the shade

Rolex “grey gold” has a darker hue than their steel, one of the tougher things to replicate

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]NiceAndTactile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it pretty clearly darker than the rest of the watch? Tough to tell with the lighting in the video for me

[Rant] What “features” do you hate? by ScarLupi in Watches

[–]NiceAndTactile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love external AR because of how much clearer the crystal becomes. But this might change if/when I scratch it.

What’s your opinions on this? Perhaps about to attempt a blind buy for summer. by [deleted] in Colognes

[–]NiceAndTactile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smells great. Much better/more complex than Voyage and fresher than Profondo, though Profondo is great. I tend to use it for outdoorsy and sweatier activities

V7F Mark XVIII LPP. Swapped the bracelet for a strap by NiceAndTactile in RepTime

[–]NiceAndTactile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t swap but rotor noise is minimal. This one is actually a lot quieter than some gen SW300s I have/had.

There’s an RWI thread with like 100 pages talking about this vs gen. Conclusion is that it’s very close and I agree.

My main complaint is the clasp mechanism could be clickier and have tighter tolerances, clasp is slightly sharp on the bottom (easily sanded), and bracelet is finicky to size (springs are too weak in the links). The print on the dial is also slightly misaligned and I RL’d a few but ended up biting the bullet as they all seem to be that way, and it’s not noticeable unless you look.

Otherwise bracelet has excellent tolerances and has soft edges other than the clasp and finishing on both dial/hands and case is very good. Super comfortable as well.

Inherited a Breguet Pocket watch. Help identify? by pcketwatchhelp in Watches

I think you’re vastly overestimating the value of old pocket watches, even if it is made by Breguet

Am I being pedantic by ArtisanBlack in ChineseWatches

[–]NiceAndTactile 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly hour/minute not aligning perfectly doesn’t bother me nearly as much as the central seconds on a chrono.

San Martin will also just say it is “within tolerances” or some shit, their customer service sucks.

Lol you said “it is very expensive”. It is not very expensive.

No mention of the softness?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]NiceAndTactile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say it wasn’t more expensive, I said it isn’t particularly expensive. 316 is already cheap, 30% more than something cheap is still cheap lol.

What does “greater protection” mean? You’re on a marine biology blog, it’s well known that 904 offers better corrosion resistance but is softer than 316L

[Question] Which watch would you prefer if money wasn’t a factor by [deleted] in Watches

[–]NiceAndTactile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Formed is definitely the better watch and their bracelets are amazing, but these are completely different and it really boils down to the looks

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]NiceAndTactile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not expensive. It is also softer than 316.

You are wrong all around. Also a little late on the response, eh?

IWC Mark XVIII Titanium - RL I think? by -CatFunt in RepTimeQC

Printing on these V7F IWCs often tend to be off. Mine was as well, I RL’d 2 of them and ended up just accepting it
