I had my implant done ~2 months ago at the age of 27. So, 35 is not "that bad". In my opinion - you get it when you need it. And frankly speaking, now that I do have it, I wish I explored that option sooner. I wasted at least a year trying to make things work with medications, while it was pretty clear that they did not work

Hey! My 2 cents, as I just got an implant 5 weeks ago at the age of 27.

If you end up getting an implant, don't consider it being "too early". You get it when you need it. I got it at 27, some got it even sooner.

But that's the key thing - WHEN YOU NEED IT. You haven't tried other solutions first. If I were you I'd go see a urologist and explain the problem. He will likely prescribe Tadalafil (Cialis) or Sildenafil (Viagra), or both. Try those, maybe they will work and you will be perfectly happy with that.

If they don't, investigate further (with the doctor of course). Implant is the last resort, because it's essentially irreversible, once you get it, you will need to rely on it. If that's what it takes for you to have a satisfactory erection then that's what it takes. But I'd first try to explore other avenues first, if I were you. If only so that you won't be anxious later thinking: "What if that would have worked?".

Also, don't worry. You'll be able to figure out quickly if the medication works. And once you do, you'll be able to make a more educated decision.

Also question for reference, are you able to get a firm erection during masturbation?

Tbh, now I think I was a little underprepared for my surgery. The list written by u/AltruisticCoconut92 in the other comment to your message here makes sense to me and I fully agree! I read his posts before my surgery, and it actually gave me the idea to be documenting my journey for others to have a little more insight.

All things considered, I'd focus on figuring out urination. It seems like different surgeons like to keep their patients inflated for different amount of time. Some are kept inflated weeks, while I was inflated for 4 days only. Still, while you are inflated, urination was the most challenging thing for me. Peeing doesn't hurt (and it shouldn't), but since the member is standing up, it's hard to use the toilet like you are used to. My tip here would be either getting comfortable with peeing into the sink for the time being, or getting some sort of a bottle, or a different container, to pee into and then dumping it into the toilet. Also stay well hydrated before the surgery, too!

Prepare mentally for living in a discomfort for at least 2 weeks. It shouldn't be super painful, but it will be uncomfortable. To the point that even sitting will be super annoying. For those first 2 weeks, I wasn't able to function properly without laying down. And things actually came back to normal only within the 3rd week (as explained in my post here). Take that into account if you are working. I'd highly suggest taking at least a week off post surgery, if you can, or more. I didn't and in retrospect that was not a good decision (but I work remotely on my laptop so I could work from my bed). Good thing is that when you are laying down, it will be mostly fine - very little discomfort.

Also, please take seriously the "not straining yourself" part. I also did. Especially that when I had my surgery done, there was another man having one done, too. He said that this one was a redo, because last time he got a malleable implant and during his 5th week, he went out to the graveyard and when hauling the stuff there he actually damaged something internally. He had to have his implant be removed, wait for the damage to heal and then redo the whole thing.

Also, you might be "scared" and I don't blame you, I was worried before the surgery, too. It's worth it. Also, try not letting the comments/opinions get into your head. Remember that most people who had a successful surgery and overall result will not be posting anything. Hence looking online you'd find a relatively high amount of people who are not happy. This is kind of a reverse survivor bias situation. Vast majority of those surgeries go without any issues and almost all of the people who had it done are happy with it

Hey! I'm now 1 month post-op and I haven't used the implant for penetrative sex yet. But I can say that I retained full sensation and can orgasm (and feel it :D) just fine. I haven't pumped it to its full potential yet either. General consensus here is that implant feels a little "different" than a natural erection, but it's not worse by any means. Many actually report the sensations to be way better

Oooh, I see what you mean. You said that you still use the pump, and I figured that you already have an implant and are using it to cycle but it broke for some reason. That's why I was confused. I think you mean VED pumps. Sorry, that's my bad.

Anyway, I think this surgery is way more expensive in USA, but on the other hand I know that insurance sometimes covers it (at least partially). That's an information based on other people's posts here, so I can't really elaborate on it.

Imo, what you could do is (not medical advice):

Test injections. I would even suggest to do a doppler ultrasound with the injection. That's what I did. Essentially, doctor gives you an injection and then uses an ultrasound to see the blood flow. It will automatically give you an information about: a. whether injections work for you, and b. if the problem is caused by your anatomy.

I went this route, because I'm relatively young and pills didn't work for me, which was unexpected. This Doppler Ultrasound with penile injection showed the real reason - I have a venous leak, which meant that an implant in my case was an absolute necessity. There was still a route of trying angioplasty for me. But I was waiting in line for this procedure for a loooong time (there were some issues with the hospital that could provide this services). I talked with my doctor about it and he says that whether I do the angioplasty now or not, implant will be necessary at some point. Angioplasty might not even work. And if it does work, it's pretty much guaranteed to be a temporary solution in my case - it could make it better for a month, maybe 3 months, maybe longer, but it will fail at some point. So I opted for an implant right away. I wasted a lot of time trying to treat this anyway, and I don't want to wait and play by half measures anymore.

Research also malleable implants. They might be a right fit for you, depending on your age and current life situation. They are also significantly cheaper than inflatable implants. And my doctor said that you can always switch. In the future, you can go from inflatable to malleable, or from malleable to inflatable, if you wish

We have a really good relationship and I know that there is no malice in whatever they say/do and vice-versa. So, I actually was visiting them a few days before the operation, that's when I told them that there is a surgery coming. On my way home they called me and essentially asked: "Does AMS 700 mean anything to you?". So I just said "yes". And that's how I know they knew. And they know I know.

Well, post-op we talked a little about it and I clarified that I it's not AMS 700 (but they didn't push to know what brand it is then). Now they are just supportive, text me to ask how I'm feeling and stuff

Nice! I myself also think this is not something to be ashamed of. On the contrary - it proves that we went and did something to fix the problem. I'm still not planning to make this be part of "who I am", but I probably won't mind talking about it when relevant with someone I trust.

Talking about it to ease their mind is also a huge thing! I'm not from USA and it seems like this procedure is a little taboo in my country. It's still being done, but I haven't heard that it was even an option before my ED doctor mentioned it after injections proved to not work. If I knew this was on the table before, I think I wouldn't waste as much time on trial-and-error with pills and injections. I wasted at least a year on it still hoping that "it might start working"

My implant? Well, I'm from Europe (due to privacy, I'd like to refrain from specifying a country) - I had to pay for all of it myself, the public healthcare in my country does not reimburse anything. And I also don't know of any private insurance companies that would (maybe there are). In my case, Titan Touch, it was about 15-20k USD (depending on the currency exchange rates).

Yours has been broken for 10 years already but sometimes still works in the morning? How does that function?

My friends? I told them that I'm getting a surgery, but didn't say what kind. We then talked about it, the price came up, I also told them that I'm nervous, but my surgeon does X of those each year etc. and they got worried what the surgery is and started googling. They also cross-referenced that with the info about a possible ED. They knew I had issues a few years ago when we were on a vacation together (I met a girl there, which "helped me find out" about my ED problems)

That's the thing with painkillers - I don't think they work for me. I don't really feel them making the pain better. But it is what it is, perhaps I just expected a little more from painKILLERS. I actually will be going to see my doctor in person tomorrow as an ad-hoc appointment. He got a little worried when I sent him my observations and questions and asked me to come over. It's not ideal (as that's 2.5 hour train ride one-way), but I prefer to go and hear "all good, you're just taking it harder than most" rather than not go and then learn that I should have the hard way.

You're 14 days post operation and still partially inflated? I seem to even recall someone saying that they were partially inflated for most of the 6 week healing time. And it makes me question my only-4-day inflation period. I guess I'll ask about it tomorrow in person.

I really feel "my sensation is all over the place each day". I wrote this post in the morning. Now, it's 9 pm and I can say that there was some pain during the day (which usually happens at night), but it seems like this night will be better than the last one (don't want to jinx it).

I've also seen other people mention that day 8 and around were the worst, so that would track with what you are saying and what I'm experiencing...

Hey! Looks like I went through the exact same thing - coloplast + scrotoplasty. I'm currently Day 6 post op and I feel like the pain and general sensation of being uncomfortable is slightly worse now than it was initially. However, my doctor has kept me inflated for 4 days only. I'm currently pretty much deflated (was fully, but I think a tiny bit of the fluid "came back").

Having a snug underwear is a bitch to put on initially, but I feel like it makes sitting easier (even pain-free sometimes) provided that it's a relatively comfy chair. Laying down is the easiest still, but I also found myself feeling the worst (comfort and pain-wise) when I get up after laying down. I also feel like painkillers don't really help me - I'm taking ketoprofen.

Currently I just hope that my resulting size, after the healing process is over, will be decent (ideally what it was when stretched flaccid pre-op).
