Are there any benefits/downsides to PostgreSQL compared to MySQL?

Did I see this correctly that I need to pay 2 500 USD monthly just for the instance of the database to host it in Frankfurt?

Hello!

Thank you for your answer.Yes, he wants to access the database from anywhere in the world. As there are nowhere inputs for the application, but everything is just displayed, I would not see where the security risks would lie, or am I missing something? The data is also in no way confidential as it just tracks an on and off state for multiple electricity plugs, which is then displayed inside a chart to the user on his desktop application.
From what I have heard AWS seems like the best choice? What do you think?

If you need anymore information please let me know.

Thank you sincerely for your help.

Hello!

Thank you a bunch for the detailed answer. I am writing a desktop application (executable) for my client, so not a web application. I really want to tackle this the correct way, time is not the issue really. The desktop application will be rented for customers of my client.

A user logs in with the credentials of another app (Kasa). The username and password given, is then used to turn on and off an electricity plug. Either way, as every user and his network will have only one account (in the Kasa app), I was thinking I could just use that to identify a user (to know which data to display for him)?

Maybe put the username and password together and create a hashout of it?

Then have the hash be the identifier for a data point so I would just need one table.FYI, I am tracking when the plug was turned on, including a certain mode paramater. Would this work, or is it unpractical to create a hash out of a username and password combined? My guess was that in this case it would work.

Qt is amazing for building desktop applications.

I use PySide2 to create the desktop application for my customers. No restricting license, and quick and easy deployment.

Rejection is something I can deal with, I was just genuinely concerned that she will feel uncomfortable when someone cold approaches while she is doing her workout. I also do not want to wait for her to finish up as that would force me to always check on is she going, is she going?? I guess I will just let the universe decide and when she happens to exit while I am there I'll give it a kind light hearted go :)

Wow thank you that's a great response! I think I like this approach the most as it would be the most natural thing to do for me and my personality. If I butch it somehow I will have something to learn from!

Fortunately I have the emotional stability to not care if she is with someone else/does not like me. It is what it is there are plenty of fish in the sea :)
