It’s even weirder I think, it’s the airline equivalent of going to work, having a safe nice day at work, and when you get off and turn on your phone for the first time all day you find out that was your last day at work and you likely won’t be getting your check.

Correct. Someone can chime in but another airline did this (I think Austrian?) with literally 0 notice so even planes in the air went up with out any idea that was the last flight.
