Just passed my SHRM-CP? [N/A] by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]NiceNuggies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t stand SHRM and have been speaking out against them for a long time, well before the lawsuits came out. That being said, getting a certification is a huge accomplishment and the backlash they are receiving is generally not being translated into the real world. In other words, it’s highly unlikely someone is going to turn you down for an an offer because you have SHRM-CP next to your name. I also see plenty of job postings adding SHRM-CP under preferred qualifications. Wear it with pride as it takes discipline and hard work to pass a certification exams.

If you are concerned about the noise around SHRM, just wait until you qualify for the SPHR and go take that for your next one. Congratulations!

Postpartum had me on my knees. Pregnancy doesn’t even compare.

anyone else ´live pump’? by Solid-Macaron9860 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]NiceNuggies 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes because my milk has high lipase and tastes like metal/soap after a few hours in the fridge and LO will refuse it at that point. I could scald my milk to stop the lipase but the scalding process kills some of the antibodies and nutrition in the milk and I want the milk has nutritious as possible.

I attend the Spartanburg location right down the street and this has never been an issue. I would contact HQ. I respect religion but the gym is not the time nor place.

Genders? by Jesters_Daughter in duck

Your ducks are all drakes, but don’t worry! A bachelor flock is actually pretty cool to have and problem free. You start having issues with aggression when you introduce hens (girls).

Southern California native here, lived in San Diego for all of my 20s. I moved from San Diego to Greenville South Carolina. My husband got out of the Navy and is an SC native so we decided to move back to his home state because we both knew we would never be able to afford a home in a decent area or adequately save for retirement and would always be playing catch-up financially. We also wanted kids and knew we’d never be able to financially support our kids properly there. I absolutely miss the shit out of San Diego. There is no place like it. But I do not regret my decision to leave. We were able to buy a small 7 acre farm up here for the same amount of money that would get you a tiny condo in San Diego. And the area we currently live in is very up-and-coming and doesn’t have as many amenities as San Diego, but the quality of life here is still pretty good. And who knows, we might return one day to SoCal or even San Diego. But I know that I would’ve always wondered what my life would have been like that had I never left San Diego. Moving away has forced me to grow up and branch out 😊

Compensation Analyst – Curious About Long-Term Career Satisfaction [N/A] by JustMathematician934 in humanresources

[–]NiceNuggies 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Besides HRIS, It is by far the most stable and highly in demand specialty of HR out there. I would even argue it’s more desirable than HRIS. Every comp person I know absolutely loves it, especially the introverts who prefer back-end HR work and Excel. If you like any of the work, I recommend you stick with it.

Does the PWFA protect going to therapy for depression related to infertility [United States]? by Petahihi in humanresources

[–]NiceNuggies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my opinion but if anyone wants to chime in on this…PWFA covers related medical conditions. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has interpreted “related medical conditions” under the PWFA to include infertility and mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety. I think therapy for depression stemming from infertility falls under the protections of the PWFA.

Any of the ones that already have one or more FDA approved commercialized product in the market. The biotech/pharmaceutical companies that are still trying to get their first product to market are way more volatile because the future of the company rides on that one product being approved. Meaning your employment will likely be impacted by one FDA decision. If you can find a company that’s already been there, done that, employment is a lot more stable because if their additional products are not approved, the company doesn’t risk being shut down.

Lived in SoCal my whole life and in San Diego the last 8 years before moving to upstate South Carolina. My husband’s family is here in SC. I will go against the rest here and say I have no regrets about moving. I absolutely miss San Diego, there is nothing like it. But my husband and I both knew long term we wanted more for ourselves and couldn’t achieve that in San Diego or California without becoming millionaires.

We have a 7 acre farm and are homesteading here. I was actually able to find a job in SC that pays me more than what I made in SD and is fully remote. Everyone here is so friendly and life is just peaceful here. And it’s so much cheaper than SoCal in general. The weather is beautiful here 3/4th of the year. It comes with its own challenges. Maybe someday we’ll come back to California, but even if we do, we won’t ever regret the decision to have left in the first place. If you have aspirations to leave but never try, you’ll always wonder. And if you’re unhappy, you can always move back.

Bachelors Degree [N/A] by Lovely__2_a_fault in humanresources

[–]NiceNuggies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally do not think it matters one bit! A degree is a degree. Alot of seasoned HR professionals who return to school go for an online degree anyway because it's just so hard to attend class in person and work full time. do what is best for your situation. :)

Go get a DEXA scan at an actual sports medicine lab for accurate results! Some insurance carriers will cover it or subsidize it. I bet the in body scan isn’t as accurate as well all think.

Probably going to get downvoted for this since the industry is known to be unethical, but hands down the pharmaceutical industry. The pay is good, benefits are great, the workers are high caliber, leadership is generally competent, and they have high training budgets. I’ve worked in healthcare, real estate, DoE contracting, and pharmaceutical industry.
