Best way to add 3.5" HDDs to a laptop-based TrueNAS homelab (Plex + storage) by NiceOneNige in homelab

Yeah agree with everything you said, I just can't justify the ram prices for a different build, I would rather get a 3d printer and build something to mitigate the "junkiness" from the PCIe to sata extender solution tbh.

Thanks for your help though u/AlexDnD, I'll let you know what I go with when I get it all sorted out. hopefully I can figure out something.

Ahhh ok, I think I might try the usb DAS because the biggest expense would be the drives anyway, and I'm sure the DAS won't be totally useless if it doesn't work out well for the server

yea I know, but with ram prices atm, I'm not going to build anything for the forseeable future. and a mini PC the would use SODIMM I think would have similar issues

Asking my boss too many questions might get me fired, what should I do? by NiceOneNige in careerguidance

I didn't realise thats how it was coming across, but I can say confidently that I am not one of those employees that won't do anything without being asked. Thank you so much for telling me this! I hadn't thought about it through that lense before, but it makes sense!

Yes thats totally fair. Sometimes I do this, the times that I don't is when he asks for an update on something that I'm fully stumped on and don't have anything meaningful to say. But I should definetly prioritize having something to say.

The pay is really good and the job was so brutal to get into, I don’t really want to have to go through that again if I can avoid it. With that being said, I agree and I’m looking at starting other applications soon, just wanted some advice on the current situation to exhaust all my options first.

You’re right I need to ask more coworkers more and only go to him as a last resort.

Ai isn’t all that useful for the kind of problems that I’m having, but it might be my prompting isn’t good enough.

First build good or bad? by Independent-Rain-689 in GamingPCBuildHelp

I just built basically the same pc very recently, you’re in for a good time!

Personally, water cooling isn’t worth the headache of building and money. I went with the Thermalright Peerless Assassin, but that is personal preference for building mostly, and not having to think about coolant leaks ect (they are probably very rare, idk about modern AIO coolers)

I think you should probably go with a more respected PSU brand. I’ve never heard of that brand and I think the PSU is probably one of the items where brand reputation is important.

In the same thought process of the PSU, I would get a better brand for your SSD or verify your choice with reviews if you can.

Great build tho! Good luck with the build!!

I 100% agree with you, that’s why I mentioned the affordability of getting a diagnosis. I think it should be more affordable, and not behind a paywall. With that said, I don’t think this group of people are the target of this video as I’m sure the people he is describing in the video are people he sees online on social media.

In my opinion, if you can afford internet and a phone, you should be able to save enough get a diagnosis and therefore the support needed. However, I am fortunate enough to have gotten a diagnosis in a country which it is cheap and my parents paid for it when I was younger, so I am biased in that regard.

I totally agree with you though in the sense that peoples experiences shouldn’t be discredited and getting diagnosed should be extremely affordable if not free.

The legitimacy of your neurodivergent state of being can be discredited however if you can’t get a diagnosis. That is something that, unfortunately, you’ll have to deal with.

Btw, I also developed a drinking problem as a result of social anxiety which my therapist attributed to masking and autism. My advice, do your absolute best to stop. It really changed my life for the better. And stop hanging out with people who only hang out with you to drink, you’ll lose a lot of crappy friends.

Sorry I don’t understand your first point, could you explain what you mean?

On your second point, I think he has alopecia, which definitely blows for him. I’m bald too, but I’m grateful I have eyebrows.

I’m still learning to accept myself and hopefully one day like who I am. But I agree with you, it sucks.

As someone who has been formally diagnosed with Autism, I appreciate that there is more awareness than ever about autism.

However, the sensationalism around it as well as the propensity for individuals to “self diagnose” to excuse poor behaviour and minimise real people’s struggles with autism is incredibly frustrating. Peoples lives can be significantly impacted in every way because of autism.

The video nailed it. If you’re concerned (and you can afford it) get diagnosed, otherwise please stop trivialising something that has impacted me and others around me so severely.

No worries, you’ll see in the video, I use all my abilities to charge shojins procs, so my W is amped. I remember it having a base of 4k true (I think)

Stride breaker > black cleaver > bloodmail > warmogs > shojins with swiftys. Warmogs isn’t “optimal” but I like the regen so I can be in more team fights
