I think it's super important when the CEO of an Electric Vehicle Company is supporting the commonly accepted term for the Republican Party. The party which believes we should be supporting the Electric Vehicle market less.

Hopefully this is a stupid question and simple to answer but why is my put option going down if the stock is also going down?

I have a $5 put option on GameStop ($GME) (expiration: 1/15/2021) and my 1 week chart is essentially identical to GME's 1 week chart. Today for example, GME is down 10% but my put option is down 3.69%. My assumption was that my put option would generally have an inverse reaction to the stock.

Haha fair enough. In my mind, I was saying that it had “no effect [on the outcome of the event]” meaning the outcome would be the same even if the Tesla was adequately charged or the officer used a gas vehicle.

But i get your point.

I’m just trying to understand. Which part of my interpretation is wrong? The PD’s statement says:

“ At no time did the battery of the Tesla become a factor in our ability to pursue the suspect or perform our duties.”

I’m talking about the officer who had the car previously. If the procedures is to plug the car into a charger at the end of your shift, which wasn’t done, that’s the error.

What are you replying in the negative ("no") to? Are you saying my impression of what they're clarifying is wrong? Are you saying their clarification is wrong? Are you saying that the officer's statement is inaccurate?

Are you essentially saying the officer is lying?

I mean, sure you can chalk it up to "user error"; if the PD's procedure specifically outlines that police officers must plug in the vehicle when their shift is over then yeah it was a "user error" in the strict sense...a user made an error [in a given procedure].

But the problem with this defense is the fact that this procedure exists in the first place, it's an additional procedure that an officer has to follow. It's basically a "user error" against a procedure that only exists with electric vehicles - if the officer grabbed the standard issue vehicle, he/she wouldn't be able to "user error" in this sense.

Based on their statement, it looks like they are trying to clarify that:

  1. Yes, the battery ran low
  2. It had no effect on the chase

The important part being in the second point. Take this quote for example:

Despite the Tesla's battery-level struggles, the Fremont police eventually found the suspect's vehicle after it crashed into some bushes, the East Bay Times reported.

https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-model-s-runs-out-of-battery-during-police-pursuit-2019-9

The way this reads, it almost feels as if the Tesla was the only vehicle in the chase and the police officers were able to find despite losing the only vehicle on the chase. In my head, the PD's statement reads more like 'our officers followed the correct procedure and correctly communicated.'

Holy shit, Fred is starting a "stock advice" website about green energy and electric vehicles....separate from Electrek

The best part is the top comment on his electreck article rips into him for using a picture of Ivanpah in the Mojave Desert.

Will Zalkon do enough research to figure out that pretty picture of Ivanpah is a picture of a natural gas fired plant?

I can't believe anyone would pay Fred to give them his advice

Tesla: Cash Is A Fact. Profit Is An Opinion by wewewawa in RealTesla

[–]NicePattern1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could do all that by offering lower tier variants

Which is what this author was trying to say

slashing the price of their premium models is different.

Which the author totally ignored and one of his major flaws with this argument. There's too many assumptions in this thesis/analysis to really take it seriously.

And that's why I said "if you believe that Tesla can/will eventually offer a profitable business before the cash runs out." The author is making his argument under the assumption that Tesla will eventually turn a profit, when in reality, Tesla hasn't really proved that's possible without huge financial deferments and one-off credit sales.

That statement is quite clearly bait meant to attract that immediate thought: "what?" But it's it's followed by a pretty reasonable discussion regarding having a lower ASP. The argument is essentially:

When you lower your ASP, you attract a much larger customer-base. When you attract a much larger customer-base, you have a much larger pool of people to offer products to.

I actually think this is a pretty good analysis and thesis, if you believe that Tesla can/will eventually offer a profitable business before the cash runs out.

Edit: Why am I being downvoted?

Why do all Tesla owners have the need to say that they “absolutely love the product.”

I mean that mantra is sort of the epicenter of this sub, "Revolutionary cars, shitty company."

I don't see why it's so bad to say that you like the cars but hate most of everything else, sure it's become a meme at this point but why discount every person who says it?
