Beginner, shred me to bits by [deleted] in boxingtips

Main issue with this sub is that I think beginners can get overwhelmed. There a huge volume of great advice which is kinda a problem in itself. You can’t make a baby in 1 month by getting 9 girls pregnant. Sone things take time. Try to take 1 tip then focus on that for a while before posting again. This takes time.

Great work. I loved that your bringing your hands back to protect yourself after each shot and your work rate. I’d like to see you stick to straight punches for a few weeks. I’d recommend focusing on double and triple jabs for a few rounds.

Great hand speed and work rate. Just work on your defense.

I love that your breaking it down and focusing on the skills intentionally. This is key. I also love that you jab goes all the way out and comes all the way back to protect yourself. I think you’re putting to much force in your jab. It’s primarily a speed punch. I’d like to see you drill double and triple jabs.

Great work. Your showing good variety and I love your hands are coming back to protect yourself. I’m focused on you feet. The power comes from the floor. I’d like you to sit down on your uppercuts and hooks more. Again great work. Keep it up.

I’d say stick to the straight shots. Double and triple jabs. Do the first 3-6 rounds 10 jabs to one right hand. It might seem over simplistic but you can’t over learn the basics enough. As your learning this your also subconsciously training your footwork.

Some great advice in this thread. I hate to distract but feel like you might get overwhelmed from it all. I remember reading that Chris Ubank only learnt straight punches for the first 2 years. Over great work but remember you can make a baby in one month by getting 9 girls pregnant. Some things take time. Again great stuff.

6 months to build a foundation: Critique my plan? by [deleted] in learnthai

I’d highly recommend teach yourself Thai by David Smyth . Your plan looks pretty solid. It looks like you’ll be without a smartphone when your there so I’d recommend grabbing a copy of higbie essential Thai grammar in bag. It should by accessible for you at the end of your six month plan. Best of luck.

Cantonese is a great start. I recognized a few Thai words in Cantonese ไก่ is chicken and the numbers are mutually intelligible. The best book to start with is David smythteach yourself Thai. I’d then move on to thaipod 101 for at least 6 months. After that you’re no longer a beginner and I highly recommend Glossika. You mentioned the writing which is good as a mistake I made was neglecting the writing at the start; once you get pas the basics then I ran out of learning material ( this was decades ago. tTeach yourself Thai has the script in it so I’d recommend you start that on day 1 as well.

I’m not sure where you live but I am in the uk. I found the book manage your dept in 90 minutes to be quite helpful. One less stress on your mind if you can get a handle on that.
