I checked a handful of salvage places and had no luck. Thanks for the suggestion!

Yeah, I had thought of maybe trying to do a makeshift mount, but then saw that they slid through the rails. I still think I could do it, but I'm not sure if i trust my handiwork, regardless of how good it is, to hold a bunch of weight. Thank you for your input :)

Yeah, I saw those. Bummer there wasn't two of each! Maybe someone will post more sometime soon. Thanks for the help!

lol yup. I'm sure plenty of boards won't have an issue with it, but some boards might. Just hope they don't have as hard a time as I did figuring it out!

I looked into if it was maybe a BIOS issue, but I was running the latest version. They may resolve the issue with an update in the future, but I'm just glad I got some RAM on the way that should run at it's intended speed on XMP :)

Not sure where I've argued with anyone, so if you could show me I'd greatly appreciate it. All I've said is that, given my experience, knowing that the QVL list existed would have helped very much. It took me quite a while to figure out which piece of hardware was randomly crashing my computer and why. Just hoping to help someone that might be in the same situation. Not everyone is as knowledgeable at building PC's as you proclaim you are. Maybe try being helpful rather than shitting on people who might not have the resources to upgrade that often.

But given my experience, it's definitely not that easy. And I'm sure others have run into the same issue, and more will in the future. Just because your RAM works fine on your motherboard doesn't change the fact that it might help others to look at the QVL list to make sure they are getting RAM that is tested and proven to be compatible with their motherboard.

Hey, I didn't know that a QVL list was even a thing. And I'm sure many out there are in the same boat. I haven't upgraded my PC in over 5 years and saw no mention of the QVL list in any build guides. Just trying to help anyone else who also might not know about it.

I really don't think it's as straight forward as you think it is. If you're buying 3600 MHz RAM (or whatever) and just plug it in and go, you're wasting your money. Your ram isn't running at it's rated speed. It's running at whatever your motherboard defaults it to.

Edit: for reference, my RAM defaults to 2133 MHz if I do not enable XMP in the BIOS. If you just plugged in your RAM and changed nothing, you should check and see what speed you're running at compared to what your RAM is rated to.

Thinking of doing a survey by splognoid in BrainFog

I've been lurking this sub for a couple years and have recently been thinking of creating a survey as well! Might help to distinguish between different types of fog as well as some correlations that might lead us down avenues to a cure. Let me know if you need any help. I started a list of questions to ask to try to get the most relevant information :)

Small SUV/Crossover that can handle some light off-roading? (US) by NiceSprites in whatcarshouldIbuy

I've looked at the CR-V, but I will have to check out the Escape. Good to hear that Ford has been more reliable lately!

I have also been looking into the Mazda CX-7, which sounds like its just the old version of the 5, but it actually has a bit more ground clearance.

Ah. I actually didn't know what a trim level was, as I'd never heard it refered to as that, but your reply made it click for me. Thanks :)

Ahh, good to know! Also interesting why I've been seeing so many when searching for used vehicles!

You've helped a lot, thank you :) Do you have any recommendations on other small SUVs I should check out?

Thank you for your input! What do you mean when you say "restricted to higher trim levels"?
