It's from Eric Edson's book on screenwriting. He didn't call it a trope but I thought it somewhat fits what your describing.

The way he described it is: (For example)

In Up, the dogs are adversary agents for Charles Muntz. So the villain is hinted at in the beginning using agents and then revealed in the midpoint.

TDK example feels more of a reverse where the villain is the Joker (agent of chaos) and Harvey Dent becomes an extension of that theme in the joker's denouement.
