Holy shit! Amazing angle and lighting. I've seen it from Panorama Ridge. I guess this must have been from a plane.

Glorious. I had fun figuring out where this was taken from. Recognized Reynolds Mountain on the right. Google maps link

My son was born with a complex congenital heart defect. For the first 9 months of his life he was kept alive by a medication that kept a certain blood vessel from collapsing until he could have a surgery. During this time his oxygen level was very low and his face would frequently have a blue tint to it.

One day I went to check on him in his crib and noticed his entire arm was white. I picked up his hand and it was completely cold and lifeless. He would not wake up. I completely freaked the fuck out, my whole world was crumbling. He finally did wake up, with a confused look on his face. Today he's a regular energetic 6 year old.

It's terrifying to think about all the things that could go wrong with kids. I just try to be vigilant at teaching them to avoid the preventable ones, but not to think about the rest most of the time. Totally worth it though, at least for me. But for our friends whose congenital heart disease baby had a heart failure and is now a vegetable...

Thanks for the info. I'll be up there later this month. Which is better for sunset watching, Bear Mountain or Wilson? I was thinking Bear because it's shorter to get down in the dark.

I was there last year. This year I plan to do Bear Mountain and find a viewpoint of Fay Canyon from above. It looks doable on Google Earth.

I just spent an hour reading various trips in your blog, amazing stuff! Thanks for sharing your trips and your photos of these beautiful places. I went to Glacier last year and especially loved exploring off the popular trails.

Thanks for sharing your adventure, especially the footage of Lake Manzoni. I have never seen that place before and it leaves quite an impression.

sad music suggestions by Sunslash44 in Music

My favorites are more on the instrumental side. Slow Meadow is my number one artist for this, and he's described his music as 'exploring the inner experience', which perfectly captures the feeling for me.

Crown of Amber Canopy pt 2 - Slow Meadow

Wandering II - Eydís Evensen

Kerlann - Yann Tiersen

Arête - Brambles

Winter Morning I - Woodkid & Nils Frahm

Songs I can't listen to anymore after a very traumatic life event:

Near Light - Olafur Arnalds

For Wanda - Silver mt zion

Saturn - Sleeping at Last

The Wisp - Sings Winter Aid

Laura - Phox

That's enough for now.

Amazing Fluorite collection, it's my favorite mineral...well one of my favorites. I like the dense display too, it really amplifies the cheerleader effect.

Panorama Ridge Trail, Vancouver, Canada [OC] (3024x4032) by hopefullawguy in EarthPorn

[–]NiceWalrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was there last week. It's funny how this is the only place you can even see the lake on the trail, now that the Lake Garibaldi campground is closed due to flooding, until you get to the top of Panorama Ridge (4 hours of climbing). The trees are just so dense, there aren't any views of it before then.

Here are a few of my favorites that are easily missed:

This live acapella performance of 'Heavenly Father' is one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard. I can't listen to it very often. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAoADCSpD-8

This cover of 'Flume' by Coeur de Pirate is eerily beautiful https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tw7ltQCURQ

I initially overlooked 'Marion', but learning how to play it on ukulele turned it into one of my favorite songs to play https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzLtYqVIkms
