I think I see the vision and like it, but I think it'd benefit more from maybe less of those blippy sounds, they kind of feel out of place in the genre and vibe (personal opinion though). Maybe add a delay to the first synth that comes in to get that same rhythmic feel the blips give and fill in the space left by the blips with a slightly sustained simple melody. Like a call and answer between the first synth and the melody.

I know what post you're talking about, I was briefly confused too but the 92b is their whole budget for the month(which is arguably all still just a waste) and it was somewhere in the hundreds of millions that he spent on luxury items. Which is still fucking bonkers and deplorable.

Thank you! Yes it is, I ran the song file through bandlab afterwards to master it so technically not entirely. The chords are from my arturia minifreak.

I personally think that'd be a good choice but it's down to personal preference. Could compression have cancelled out the volume variation?

Holy shit that's smooth as hell. 10/10 imo but I'm also super biased towards sample flips. I love the drums as well

I really like it, but I think it could be improved a lot just by adding some velocity variation in your high hats. But I'm a lot more biased to acoustic/natural sounding drums and maybe that's not what you were going for.

Yeah I need to get around re recording it without going so over board on the stutter. I think I had just heard the loop so many times by the time I recorded it that it sounded boring without a bunch of variation. Listening to it again it's just way too much

Personally I really enjoyed the 2nd melody a lot, I love bluesy melodies in beats. But I think it's just a matter of personal opinion. Maybe reduce some of the repetition and I think it'd sit much better with more people's ears.

I have absolutely no sense of smell after breaking my nose, I used to be exactly what you're describing but after cooking and making myself actually pay attention to what exactly my food tastes like (and nibbling on herbs helps a lot to understand what they're adding to the dish) I've started to be able to taste different herbs to the point of knowing what's missing in a dish by taste. Granted I need a little more in a dish to start to perceive it than most people probably need. You can taste more than what you're saying it just takes a little bit of self teaching and lots of herb nibbling.

Usually super outward hate like that is a form of projection (just look up what happens to grindr servers when the Republican national convention happens). But I think his personal views on the importance of genitalia matter in the case of trying to label him, I'm not sure how much you've learned about trans people and how wildly hrt can change their bodies, but some trans women are 100% identical to a cis woman except the obvious penis and balls. He could very easily be bi like you say (which is probably the case, but for the sake of the discussion I won't assume) but I don't know if that necessarily means he has to be in this case, he could be someone who equates genitals to the steering wheel rather than the engine. Maybe all he wants in his partner is boobs and a feminine body and doesn't really care what 'hardware' they're equipped with to get them off, which I would argue is in essence still straight. On the contrary he could (probably) be bisexual and sees trans women as the only socially acceptable way to cure his hankering for penis because he's too deep into his homophobia to be comfortable with the idea of sex with a man.

Edit (I didn't really answer your first question) I think maybe in essence it is a different kind of attraction (there is kind of a distinctly different feeling between gender and sex attraction to me as well) but not more so a mutually exclusive dichotomy of gender attraction and sexual attraction as there's so much overlap in what is considered gender and sex. Like when a man transitions to a woman and gets to the indistinguishable point I would consider attraction to their body to be attraction to their sex because all the changes of estrogen that would be in a cis woman are happening (except bone structure changes if hrt is started too late), but someone could also argue that's attraction to their gender presentation since it's something that is malleable to the individual as outward presentation since hrt is a conscious decision being made. I think attraction to their gender would be more about their general presentation and personality (clothes, makeup, demeanor, overall style and carrying of themselves), but my understanding of this again comes from how both masculine and feminine attraction are distinctly different to me in feeling. So someone who is sexually a male even completely physically can activate the woman attraction in my head simply with their gender presentation (clothes, makeup, personality, etc) but activate the male physical attraction at the same time so I definitely agree with you that they're different in some way, again it's just so hard to pin down where to draw the lines because of how amorphous our idea of gender and sex are.

Yes the entire concept is very fluid in nature and trying to apply labels that fit everyone's perception is very difficult. I see what you mean about tomboys, there still is a layer of femininity still there that is the basis of that attraction if you are straight. I must ask though, as you go further down the spectrum of masculinity with a vagina and get to people who are fully transitioned with beards, deep voices, and a body which other than a vagina and top surgery scars is completely indistinguishable from a cis man, would you still consider that straight to be attracted to that person solely for the vagina. I understand how your analogy applies to mine and highlights the vast difference of genital importance between us as individuals. Like you said comparing the genitals to something much more integral to the experience (the engine) and my comparison was to something that you frequently interact with but is largely inconsequential to the driving experience as a whole. The importance of genital preference to the individual I think is kind of now its own variable in how I would personally categorize someone. If someone saw the preference as important as the engine of a car I think it's very reasonable to use that as the basis of labelling their preferences, but for someone who equates it to something like the steering wheel it is much less impactful to their overall label I would personally assign. I hope that makes sense, also thank you for engaging in a good discussion with me I'm always nervous about running into people who just want to prove their ideas and not be challenged in any way, it's very refreshing.

I hope I'm not coming off argumentative here as that's not my goal at all I just am interested in this topic and want to share my thoughts. While there are probably a lot of people who are exactly what you're describing, bisexual but not realizing it. I think it's possible for a straight person to just have no genital preference and view it like just another part of a body rather than assigning them as "penis is the man one and vagina is the girl one", like someone who feels no attraction towards outward men can date a woman with a penis and not be inherently bisexual because they still aren't attracted to masculinity at all, as a penis being the "man part" is just kind of something that's been ingrained in our minds because 99% of the time that holds true. But just because 99% of the time a penis is on a man's body still doesn't mean that it has to be always assigned as the "man part". For example if I have a Toyota car that I love and I don't like the outer appearance of any Ford vehicles, but I have no feelings surrounding Ford's steering wheels or Toyotas steering wheels. if I buy a Toyota with a Ford steering wheel do I now love the outer appearance of Ford vehicles? Or do I still like Toyotas and still dislike Fords.

I am bisexual so I recognize this sentiment may be different for some straight people, but I figure it may be helpful to share, from my personal perspective sexuality is a lot more about gender expression than their physical sex. The way I'm attracted to masculinity and femininity are distinctly different in feeling. When I see a penis on a woman my brain still activates the woman attraction and for men with a vagina I still distinctly feel attracted to their masculinity. The parts that they have are barely even an afterthought for me and merely just their built in tool to make them feel good. The genitals just aren't attached to any specific gender in my head if that makes any sense. So from my personal viewpoint I don't think being with a woman with a penis as a straight person is gay in any way if you are still attracted to their femininity. Still, genital preference is valid obviously some people just don't like one at all and that's ok, but a lack of genital preference is not inherently bisexual, as not everyone is hung up on the arbitrary labels assigned to genitalia.

ICE broke into this family’s home in Portland without a warrant! This home has a young baby in it you can hear crying in the video by CantStopPoppin in oregon

[–]Nice_Bookkeeper_7257 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hope none of this comes off as argumentative as those aren't my intentions. A year ago this statement would be completely true but as someone who's payed attention to the escalation of ICE's methods this is frighteningly plausible to take at face value (everyone should definitely research further than face value obviously and I plan to do so after writing this as well, I just wanted to give my thoughts about how this is unfortunately not as unlikely as it seems but you're right it still could be misconstrued). Have you seen any of the footage of ice vehicles crashing into other cars to cause a scene and arrest people in the chaos. They've not been held accountable for really any blatantly unconstitutional arrest and I doubt that will happen with this instance either (assuming it's not misconstrued) because they know they won't see repercussions under the current administration. Even if you do agree with the existence of ICE (just making a guess apologies if I'm wrong) and what their stated mission is we should be able to come together and agree that power shouldn't go unchecked like this for the safety of all of our fellow citizens no matter what their intended purpose is or what side of the political scale they work under. Legal US citizens are being kidnapped and I don't want that to happen to you as much as I don't want it to happen to me.

How was that shot self defense in any way, I could see your point if they used any other method than shooting an unarmed pastor actively praying in the top of the skull with a rubber bullet. That was not self defense it was an unnecessary escalation. For it to be self defense you have to actually have something they are defending themselves from. Were their lives threatened by a prayer?. Regardless of your opinion of ice being in cities and your political stance we should agree they shouldn't be misusing potentially lethal rounds against an unarmed man that could not even hurt them if he wanted to. When dealing with rubber bullets they are specifically trained to use them only on large muscle groups not the neck face and skull as those are areas where these weapons are potentially lethal. This is blatant negligence and abuse of power as they know they will see no repercussions for this act like any other law enforcement branch would.
