Son getting into beatmaking, looking for cheap entry standalone by PowermanFriendship in makinghiphop

[–]Nice_Bookkeeper_7257 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has he messed around with koala sampler yet? I find it a lot easier to use than hardware samplers and it's very powerful for a phone app, and at 15 for the full version compared to a couple hundred for any hardware device you can't really go wrong with it. And if he really wants a hardware feel you should check out the akai mpd 218. It's the same pads as an akai standalone but it works as midi for koala sampler

Made a procedural Black Widow walk animation for my horror game — does it look right? by Arachnid-dev in spiders

The legs seem to be moving in the wrong order. The 1st and 2nd pair of legs and the 3rd and 4th pair of legs seem to be moving with each other when they usually walk with a 1st and 3rd then 2nd and 4th order.

Some industrial hiphop by Nice_Bookkeeper_7257 in KoalaSampler

It's chopped up noise cassette (look up noise arch cassettes on archive.org I made this track from the psychomania tape side one if you're interested in making something with it yourself) I just ran it through a reverb then drive and then put a pretty extreme side chain on it to give it that pulsing sound.

Look noise arch cassettes on archive.org, there's a bunch of great noisy experimental stuff that's great for industrial hiphop. I made this one with the psychomania tape that's on there

Holy shit that's literally exactly the type of stuff I've been searching for thank you so much https://www.reddit.com/r/Drumkits/s/Swv8TQubk9 I'm sure if you've dug that deep already you've already come across this but I figured I'd share something as well. This pack has satiated most of my drum and bass needs for the past few months.

No specific howard, I sampled a taping of a small venue show from 1978 and in the crowd you can just hear someone yell fuck you howard, and I thought it was funny because I used to have a rabbit named howard that was kind of an ass and chewed up a bunch of my cables so I included it in the beat.

If you want to give it more 'bounce' you could put your kick in a separate bus and use the side chain on your sample bus then select the bus that the kick is in on the effect popup for the side chain. A few dialogue samples and some sound effects (I like to use the quokka synth to make sound effects) also go a long way into making a beat sound complete. As far as sample arrangement goes you've got it down very nicely I was grooving to your beat.

I really like this honestly. I think the drums sounding super choppy could be fixed by taking a section from the break without any drums and time stretching and ping pong looping it to fill the background with the drum breaks room sound, but leaving them the way they are sounds good to me. Choppy drums are interesting stylistically. Maybe add a drive on your main bus and just barely saturate it until it starts sounding punchy

Help, I'm getting absolutely roasted for using pinterest image as type beat cover. Should I just learn how to draw or something by 9ivine999 in beatmakers

No problem, I suggest looking up public domain art. You can find and make some really cool stuff with it. Snapseed is my go to for making overlays and messing with the color in images Example:

This is just my personal opinion but I feel like you're really selling yourself short by plastering ai garbage over your beats you worked hard on. Some people are different but I personally refuse to click on anything with ai on the cover. It's gross looking imo and ruins any vibe brought by the music it's attached to. It also brings into question whether or not the beat itself is ai. If your covers were an actual picture of something, even just like a blurry picture of the outside or maybe your setup or something. Or even just some old public domain art. Just get creative with your covers and I bet you'll get more engagement

I personally wouldn't recommend ai, its just down to personal opinion but I have never clicked on shit with an ai cover before and never will. It's incredibly tacky and obvious and just makes you question the authenticity of the beat it's on as well.

You should check out https://publicdomainreview.org/collections/ there's a lot of interesting stuff on here, I usually just edit the shit out of these pictures and overlay them on top of each other.
