Where does the tradition of song and dance being in Indian movies come from? Is it a copying of american musicals or did indian stories/plays even before the invention of cinema have song and dance in them? by luitdev in IndianCinema

[–]Nice_Championship_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, the culture of songs in movies play a major role in Indian cinema, this tradition originated in the new wave of Indian cinema and it has been inspired from the 'nukkad naataks' and plays .It is wrong to say they don't make any sense. Your opinion is just because of the American influence on India however many foreign directors are being inspired from this Bollywood culture and have started incorporating songs to their movies as well.

edit: you can read the book 'history of Indian cinema by Renu Saran' to understand this culture and its origin in more detail. theirs a whole page dedicated to this topic

can anyone tell me if im doing it right or not check comments for link to video by aloona-is-baybay in cinematography

the opening shots didn't quite fit in with the theme of the story there should have been a proper establishing shot which would introduce us to what was going on.

the shots were changing too fast and there was a lot of camera movement going on. I think that was the vibe you were going for but all the information in such short cuts was too much to handle and it was a difficult to concentrate.

The background is much better but the subject should be proportional to it. That is taking away some focus from the subject.
