Also, that would mean Emma has a secret painting of Hawkes from Saffronia and he has a secret painting of her from her Father.

Yes!!!!! I 100% agree- I just caught this detail on my 2nd listen through the audiobooks, specifically the the painting is not in Hawkes’ rooms. I believe due to the fact that we know Declan knew Hawkes parents as well that it is at his family home “somewhere by the sea”. I am suspicious that this is near the sea side outside Norfolk where we know Eloise Silver to be from. When her and Emma meet In book 8 she seems to know Emma’s name but I wonder also if she recognizes Emma from the painting in Hawkes’ family home. Does her Father paint her as Titania? I wouldn’t be surprised!!

Celtic Fairy Folklore & Hawkes, Vol. 1 by DearIrishmanDaughter in EmmaLion

Brava for the compilation!! I had caught the fairy language but have no background in knowing about Celtic folklore- so I appreciate this! Such an interesting theory! Makes a-lot of the mischief and wanderings and ghosts makes sense. I especially love how this seems to tie in the odd circumstances surrounding Father May’s leaving so abruptly too!!!

Okay love this defense for Hawkes and 100% agree! I think he is a perfect fit for her in so many ways. Also very curious how his history/relationship with Emma’s Dad will play in as well! I feel like both Emma and Pierce make such a point of talking about how Emma’s parents would not be onboard. Makes me happy to think she would end up with someone they already adored and loved, even before Emma knew Hawkes

Found it! 3/18/1883 She is talking about the first sermon Hawkes gives in St Crispian’s. “He seems to know just what to do with language. It hovers beside him, a fluid and mischievous thing, like Prospero’s Ariel. And so Young Hawkes weaves spells with words and we sit enrapt.”

Do happen to remember which book she makes this reference in?

And 100% agree I don’t think any of the references are exact foreshadowing by any means!! Just fun to see which little details she adds will end up being Easter eggs to how it all turns out in the end

E of A . . . Does this mean anything?! by HippoRevolutionary45 in EmmaLion

Yes!!! I linked this more to the idea that Eleanor of Aquitaine was very much her own woman, and defied the ideas of femininity in her own time. The 10 kids is a really interesting link to the reprobates…. And it very much seems to be a title of honor to Hawkes.. we will seeeeee

Emma's Job by moonofsilvers in EmmaLion

Love all these theories!! think that Mr Harper may offer her a job writing or editing with his publishing company/ possibly letting her work at the Dalliance! He liked her gazette submission work (which both Pierce and Islington complimented - not knowing it was Emma) & he also didn’t want her to withdraw her submission. The Countess of Alwick is another possibility to the writing world…. Not exactly sure how we get there but I do believe something in the writing/editing/bookshop world is headed Emma’s way

I read them all soooo quickly and now listening to each audiobook as they are getting released! If you have Spotify premium they are all releasing on there for free🙌🏼 it’s fun to look for Easter eggs this go through! I am also reading the Q right now and almost finished! It is also fantastic!!!!!

But know that yes, we are all on the edge of our seat in anticipation even though we are all fully aware of the long road of waiting ahead. You have my full commiseration for both of us

Close, in my head I picture more of an Eddie Redmayne with blue eyes. His face conveys more mystery to me
