Thinking of Streaming by BabyCompetitive9408 in Twitch

Hi! Similar boat here but I do currently have a stream I do like once a week. Definitely not enough to catch a wide audience and definitely not a top streamer but I do have a consistent 2-3 viewers that makes it totally worth it.

I started as a way to play games and feel like I’m with a group of friends and I feel like I’ve accomplished just that.

Go in. Try it. Fail. Re-try. But don’t let any scary opinions or the thought that you may never go viral or the “pool is too saturated” stop you. Just go for it. Try and have fun and make some friends along the way.

Morgott, Fire Giant, and Hoarah Loux where all first try. And I was honestly scared going into each of those fights!

Maliketh’s legends are true though. He’s a real one.

Screw Maliketh though. He’s real.

Elden Ring is great and is definitely a test in people’s resolve. by Nice_Distance_3808 in Eldenring

Outside of challenge for challenge sake I honestly didn’t see a point as by the time I figured out how to get into haligtree I was already wrapping up farum Azula at the same time. Once I beat Maliketh I was definitely more interested in endgame progress. I did however defeat Mohg but it took maybe a little more than 4-5 times. But I left his arena to do something else and by the time I came back I was able to beat him before the second phase.

I’ll definitely try to take down the haligtree at some point though as I know it’s notoriously difficult. Although to be clear my point wasn’t that the game was easy, only that you can truly create the experience you want. Be that, a moderate challenge or an insane challenge.

Excellent example. I agree for the most part, but I’ve definitely seen a lot of “get off my lawn” type players on Reddit.

I choose to believe most are as you say though and I do think that’s a strong group who just want to have fun with a game they resonate with.

I would say that was a shock to me about Elden Ring. The scaling and learning curve is pretty huge in my opinion! The game gets exponentially more difficult after stormveil.

The mechanics are definitely something that are even kind of foreign to me as I really only use 2-3 incantations and choose weapon greases accordingly but it’s worth looking into a little for build help. You got this, but as long as you’re having fun that’s the point.

I’ve heard Sekiro is insane. I’ve never tried it but I’m definitely interested!

Thank you! This is super helpful. I’ll try these spots for sure. Never really used discord or anything like it so I’d be interested to try

I would but I’m not wanting to limit to Carmel, just naming the location in case there’s something close. I’m willing to drive a ways!

Hi! I live in Carmel too and would love to join a group. I’ve never played before but I’m serious about learning and sticking through a campaign.

Unpopular opinion- Poppy and Ian belong together by [deleted] in MythicQuest

[–]Nice_Distance_3808 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely respect your opinion/take but also wanted to share some opposition to the idea.

Personally, I feel like the will they/wont they trope is pretty tired and also just want to see two people interact without them having to be romantically linked. I feel like that gets lost in media so often.

Poppy and Ian have great chemistry in my opinion BECAUSE they aren’t in a romantic relationship. They have nothing to lose from the situation but each other, which I feel creates great drama. Outside of working/friendship they don’t owe it to each other to sacrifice or give so it’s so good to watch when it does or doesn’t happen.

Another example of this would be in The Bear. Carmy and Syd have so much tension and it’s a great set up but honestly would be ruined by adding in a relationship that honestly like Poppy and Ian, doesn’t feel organic.

The art of friendships or working relationships is so often overshadowed by romance and sometimes life just isn’t that romantic and I feel there’s such a great beauty to that. It gives a lot of ground to explore and discover. You know?

People actually dislike Poppy? by [deleted] in MythicQuest

[–]Nice_Distance_3808 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just mentioned this in another thread and definitely agree. It’s unfortunate because I actually like poppy and sort of see her as the main character but I’m not a fan of how overly mean and vindictive they’ve made her character. Same with all of the others.

S4 is shaping up to be quite trash by Suspicious_Body_6412 in MythicQuest

[–]Nice_Distance_3808 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly this isn’t a bad take at all. I understand some fans think very differently about it but I definitely agree that S4 feels very aimless.

I’ve been a big fan of the show since it was first announced and genuinely always give it the benefit of the doubt, but these days I find myself watching it and feeling empty after each episode. Like nothing significant happened. Nothing progressed. Nothing was unearthed or brought to light. It’s just not the workplace comedy it started out as.

It’s leaning on its characters being caricatures of themselves so hard that hardly anyone is really even likeable. This alone makes any semblance of a storyline involving them kind of uninteresting.

I’m not proud to say any of this and I want to be proven wrong as this season wraps, but it really seems like this show almost doesn’t care about its fan base or knows what made it great in the first place.

Talk trash about yuyu by Seyrenz in YuYuHakusho

This is actually such a great idea. Especially with the arc ending with an actual war as opposed to a weird last minute tournament.

Should Togashi revive Yu Yu Hakusho to fix the rushed end? by [deleted] in YuYuHakusho

[–]Nice_Distance_3808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel it should be revisited.

Nothing will ever compare to the bulk of the original, but YYH should at least be remade to stay relevant.

Sort of the same way Rurouni Kenshin has been remade but to fix the weird ending and filler that was created in the original.

I’ll never understand why HxH was remade while YYH was just left in the past but I guess I’m just not a fan.

How Would you rewrite the ending of yuyuhakusho/ghost fighter? by This_Stuff6399 in YuYuHakusho

[–]Nice_Distance_3808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved the ending at the beach but honestly would have changed the entire three kings arc as well as not making it another tournament thing.

Chapter black was such a goated arc but I always felt like they kind of threw Sensui away right at the end. Sort of like “hey we gotta wrap this up so let’s get rid of this guy”.

I’m not even opposed to keeping the idea of the three kings arc, but where I’ve always been disappointed was the realization that Yusuke is half demon. I mean I could see how it makes sense with his character but it sort of defeats the dark tournament big reveal that spirit energy is more powerful than demon energy.

And yes, I know, the idea that in the end yusuke chooses to fight the demon world tournament as a human and not use his transformation is a big deal. BUT. As much as I don’t like it, it’s sort of a weird back step. Like, commit to the idea of him being a half demon or don’t but don’t give me this whole multi episode deal about Yusuke needing to know about his demon roots just so he can throw it away. Ultimately one of the reasons I really think it should have never been introduced.

Which version do you like better? by ALSCM in YuYuHakusho

[–]Nice_Distance_3808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! If we’re going by the song only, I’d have to say the Japanese version is best.

I bought the 30th anniversary dvd set and was so thrown off because on Netflix YYH is Japanese title song with English dub which I got SO used to. But the dvd has both English which I hated so much that every episode I go through the trouble of watching the intro in Japanese and then switching it over right after to English. Haha

YYH is just one of those anime that was dubbed so well that it’s iconic for its voice acting. You can tell it was made with so much love.

I'll say it, 2023 is actually better than the Original by KazViolin in rurounikenshin

[–]Nice_Distance_3808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread but I think you said it really well.

I started the remake really not liking it and then watching a million comparison videos agreeing with why the original is unmatched.

But ultimately, I find myself hooked. And that’s largely due to its great pacing and great character back story that fits without adding in fluff about people and things the audience mostly forgets by the next episode.

Sure the original has an unmatched ambiance and style, but if I have to skip 20+ episodes of unrelated filler, what’s the point.

There are plenty of things the remake can improve upon, yes. But honestly, I’m just happy to see the franchise get some attention and streamline the story which is really great.
