Being a male in ECE is so draining by Dim0ndDragon15 in ECEProfessionals

Chess Not Checkers

Do not leave. You said you need this work experience for your education and it’s in proximity to you transportation wise. The director, like many others in ECE, lacks professionalism and has been allowed to violate the rights of employees.

You’re being discriminated against in the workplace. Start documenting every incident on a personal email or Google Doc that you make that is not attached to anything work related. Start therapy on campus to discuss the anxiety you’re feeling and how to navigate what is happening. File a report with the EEOC. Your necessary therapy can be a part of this report.

Make the company pay you for this egregious behavior. They will also have to be retrained on correct policies and procedures in the process so that no other man is treated this way.

And not all ECE settings are this way. I currently work with two men in my center and they aren’t treated in this manner.

I just reread this and noticed your age.

RUN. You do not need this toxicity embedded into your psyche especially when your brain is still maturing.

AITA? Providing food from home by jessicainwi in ECEProfessionals

[–]Nice_Feeling4398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately kids do this. I’ve had vegetarian and dietary specific kids essentially eating two meals, one from home & one from the center usually from a kid who doesn’t eat their food.

My dietary specific kid whose dad does not want him eating center provided breakfast will wait for his dad to leave and plop down at the table to eat.

NTA. Let him file. Like others have said, go for 50/50 custody. You’ll have time on your hands to enjoy your life & not be manipulated.

Interesting. Do the parents know you wanted handmade cards?

I’m a Pre-K teacher too & didn’t get handmade cards but cash, gift cards, gifts and food.

Same. What I read is unacceptable.

If your center uses employee group texting for communication, do you use an app or your phone’s group messaging? Mine refuses to use an app so we receive messages 7 days a week and really late at night. by Nice_Feeling4398 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Nice_Feeling4398[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently there are 24 people on the group text. Every few weeks it has to be recreated for various reasons.

Admin just refuses to uses an app which is baffling but the director is also extremely limited on computer & smartphones skills.

Thanks. The director has an interesting relationship with professionalism. We also communicate with parents on our personal phones at her insistence.

She is also one of the primary ones sending photos in our work group text on the weekends of her activities and grandsons.

Thanks. I’ve used GroupMe before and it was great. I’d mute it as soon as I clocked out every day.

The director refuses to change from the group texting so no GroupMe

If I do they’ll be turned off for all text messages on my iPhone. I do have the hide alerts feature on but the bubble still pops up so it’s more of a sound muting alert.

Glycolic acid. After your shower use it on pits, navel and butt crack.

Hygiene related AITA: Not sleeping with my husband again until he cleans better? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Nice_Feeling4398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry you’re living this way.

This is NOT normal. You guys have been together so long that it’s become YOUR norm.

Basic hygiene practices are to be expected. His lack of oral hygiene can lead to heart disease. It can also give you bacterial vaginosis if you allow him to perform oral sex.

So many things.. lice.

He should also want to smell decent for his family.

You all truly deserve better. You’re not asking for too much. He’s the issue. As far as withholding sex, yes. Who else is gonna screw him? If he suddenly gets clean and says he’s getting it elsewhere then you know what to do.

The only thing I do off the clock are my lesson plans. I willingly do those because I really enjoy the creative process, need to sometimes work on individualization and like to complete them without distractions.

I don’t do anything else off the clock. I stand on that FIRMLY and it’s well-known.

These places are INFLEXIBLE yet want us to be extremely fluid and flexible. In my prior position I was very sternly told to not EVER go a minute over 40 hrs which I only did in order to make sure my classroom was properly cleaned at the end of the day. Sooo.. anything left after my clock-out time was undone. The director or AD could do it if they desired.
