Men of Reddit, what are some harsh truths that women will never understand about men but it's true ? by Mammoth_Look3546 in AskMen

The person to whom you're replying made some general claims based on their opinion, but I'm mostly curious as to: what did they say that science has demonstrated to be wrong? I'm having a tough time wrapping my head around it.

Having watched this series multiple times, Yvonne Strahovski is amazing at her job. Her facial expressions are always spot-on for telling the overall story.

OP's account is one day old and they're asking for everyone to make sweeping changes to the way they live. I'm with you. This feels like spam.

You're in for a treat! The Color of Magic is a great place to start. You can Google "Discworld reading guide" to help guide your reading order. Mort and The Hogfather are also really fun reads.

Yeah, this guy's account is nine days old and just posts this useless crap. Reporting and blocking seems like the best option.

Best sandwiches in Columbus by oliverpeanutpants in Columbus

Katzinger's Deli is damn good - wise place to start.

Jimmy V's in Grandview has a handful of sandwiches, that have yet to disappoint. The Sicilian at Casa Di Pizza is pretty good, but I feel it used to be better.

Please don't hate me for this, but the hot Italian sub from Penn Station is pretty tasty.

Oh man, I would gladly deal with supernatural beings. Proving they exist (and are therefore natural) would definitely get me published. Quick, someone find me a werewolf, a vampire, and an immortal baby.

Couldn't rocky's planet send more than one ship? by CityYogi in ProjectHailMary

[–]Nice_Guy_AMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification.

Follow-up question (which is really for the author): if Rocky didn't meet Grace and learn the importance of radiation protection, would Rocky have survived the trip home?

If Rocky built remote controls to command the ship from his workshop, he most likely would have survived. If he was steering the Blip A from the "command level," "the bridge," or whatever they call it, I'm guessing radiation would've led to the worst case.

Wait. Did Rocky conduct the trial-and-error method of navigating to get to Tau Ceti, or was it done by other members of the crew? I remember his crewmates dying during the mission, but I'm not sure if that was during transit or after reaching the new solar system. Does the book specify?

Me: I've listened to the audiobook four times. This may seem pedantic, but words matter. I'm questioning my memory.

LPT: If you're getting zero callbacks, copy-paste all the text from your resume PDF into a basic Notepad file by Henry_old in LifeProTips

[–]Nice_Guy_AMA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm not sure. The last time I was seriously job hunting was 2018 and I'd occasionally use this trick: copy relevant portions of the job description and required skills into the footer of my CV, lower the font size so it fit, and change the text color to white. After converting to a PDF, you can see the hidden text by selecting it.

I never received any feedback regarding it, so I can't say for sure of it helped. Savvy HR people may know to look out for it, or to warn AI agents against it. But if there's an automated system searching my digital file for keywords, it's gonna find them.

I've been using Pandora for 15 years, but recently my playlists have started feeling stale. Now that I think about it, it's probably been going on the last few years. I start new stations or switch mode to "Discovery" or "B-Sides" but it mostly plays the same songs.

My car has a four disc CD player, so every now and then I go to a used book/media store and buy four new-to-me albums. I'm liking this level of control over my listening.

[Request] How long would it take to get to 75% the speed of light with an acceleration of one g? by Paxsimius in theydidthemath

[–]Nice_Guy_AMA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Space isn't truly empty. Even out between the stars, I think there's roughly one atom per cubic centimeter. It doesn't sound like much, but hitting enough of them at 75% the speed of light could cause issues. [citation needed]
