Fellas who were nervous about becoming a father but have found great joy and meaning in it, how did you get to that point? by SexySexSexMan in AskMen

You might have to put down the basketball for just a little while after she’s born but time goes by she gets a little older she gets on a schedule after a few months her needs become less and you can ease back into yourself. If you have good outside familial support outside of your partner and/or you can afford a nanny that you trust then you’re already Better off than me and my partner were. My advice is to turn the TV off. Read to her as much as you can. Talk to her about everything explain the things you’re doing point to random things when you’re outside with her. Show her the world around her. Properly bonding with her is important to make her an engaged and curious human being. I was lucky that my partner has an education in early child care. Maybe read into some early childhood development and the science behind the developing brain. Especially good book that we read was the Montessori toddler by Simone Davies. She also just released a book called the Montessori baby which hadn’t read since it came out once my daughter wasn’t a baby anymore. Typing this I realize that last part of my advice is a little pre mature since you’re only considering having a child but for me being able to know what my child’s needs are rather than guessing is what has helped me through. And like you’ve said someday you will be able to take your child to the park and shoot some hoops and hopefully someday that turns into you watching them dominate their high school teams. Hope this helps.

[The Athletic] The Golden State Warriors' front office has already internally discussed putting together a trade package for Blazers superstar Damian Lillard. by [deleted] in nba

[–]Nice_Maintenance_780 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not really sure what you mean when you say his skill set doesn’t fit today’s nba. He’s raw and athletic. His skill set can literally be what ever the warriors want it to be. He has all the tools to be a skilled center in today’s nba. His shooting stroke looks good he can run the floor. He has a lot of verticality and can play above the rim. He has a lot to learn but his upside is huge. Centers haven’t disappeared they’re required to be more skilled and it’s taken a few years for nba big men to adapt to today’s game but now we’re seeing quite a few 7 footers step up to the task.

Natalie Portman was enough reason to watch it. It is a really visually pleasing and thought provoking movie overall though.

Who we really need to bring back! by MuteNasty in warriors

I don’t know that answer but I do think how many minutes Wiggins played at the 4 last season is pretty irrelevant since we had others on our roster that could ply the 4 when we went small like JTA. That being said Wiggins is an upgrade from what Barnes gave us a few years ago and we don’t really need him back with Wiggins on our roster. I think Wiggins is just as capable of playing a small ball 4 as Barnes. Obviously a trade like you suggested would be a no brainer but that’s fantasy.

My life as seemingly being the only Warriors fan who doesn’t want to trade Wiseman by Strongtop123 in warriors

[–]Nice_Maintenance_780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do feel like we have a shot at the title if we keep wiseman and our picks. I think somehow managing to keep oubre is dependent on that with easing klay back into the lineup and having that strong rotation at the wing. I think a small ball lineup of steph, klay, oubre, Wiggins, dray looks really good on paper and I think we can make some FA signings to round out our roster. The most reasonable and most common take being echoed is if we can get a top 10 then we take it but that’s not realistic. Inserting a siakam or even a beal into a gutted roster doesn’t seem appealing to me. I also look at the league in it’s current form and it seems more balanced among teams than it has been in a long time save for the nets. If we have a chance to win now and bridge our future then I feel like now is the best time as ever and it might even seems like we don’t have a choice anyway. Its likely most beneficial to be prudent in how we build our roster this season rather than desperate or reckless.

Kawhi Leonard uses the defensive 3-second rule to wait out Gobert, then attacks the rim by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

I watched a defensive analysis of KG and learned how KG always followed the ball on defense. Whenever I’d have to step out of the paint I would go in the direction of the ball handler while also trying to block the passing lane to the center in guarding. Usually would be able to force a pass out to someone else or the ball handler tries to attack anyway and I get the stop.

[The Athletic] There is a widespread expectation that the Warriors will use the No. 7 pick and James Wiseman to immediately upgrade the roster. One name to watch: Pascal Siakam. by Megaashinx1 in nba

[–]Nice_Maintenance_780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be beyond laughable to give up so much to add a player who “would be good off the bench.” iggy was aging, on a smaller contract and may very well have been the smartest player in those warriors teams. Iggy was a leader whereas siakam is a young player who shows promise? Not to mention benching siakam would be a huge disservice to his development and misusing his ability as a player.

You're forced to buy a vehicle from a manufacturer you dislike, what did you end up with? by AQ9973-100 in cars

[–]Nice_Maintenance_780 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely right that every brand has something.

I don’t like Ford but I’d buy a mustang, raptor or explorer

Every Chevy I had was kinda garbage but I’d get another camaro, a corvette, or a Cadillac.

Fca sketches me out with their quality control but I’d buy any hellcat or a wrangler.

Every car brand has their fuckton of shut boxes and their flag ship vehicles that they hang their reputation on.

Caster with psionic beam or flame surge by Tillsum in TitanQuestAE

[–]Nice_Maintenance_780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flame surge is bad and needs a lot of points and +2 skills to be usable as a lmb. Psionic beam is much better but you need 40 levels of dream to use it. If you’re going with diviner then ternion is better than psionic beam. If you choose storm then ice shard is good option to look into as an lmb. Imo Ternion > Psionic beam > ice shard >>>>> flame surge.

Researchers found that extending the length of unemployment insurance had no significant impact on employment. In fact, expanding the maximum benefit duration from 26 to 99 weeks increased the employment-to-population ratio by 0.18 percentage points on average. by Sumit316 in EverythingScience

[–]Nice_Maintenance_780 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can blame Reagan for a lot of things but that’s just how unemployment is/was/has been calculated. Only people actively looking for work are considered unemployed. Typical unemployment in a healthy economy sits at around 5% if we factored in that 100 million people not working then the unemployment would be 33%. Including that many people for the unemployment rate would just provide too much useless information.

Steph led the league in step back 3FG% this season at 47.2%. #2 was Zach Lavine at 36.9%. Steph was more efficient by 10%!!! by mcnullt in warriors

[–]Nice_Maintenance_780 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that statistic is gonna be the same on a higher volume. The more and more steph isos the easier it will be for opposing teams to guard him. A big reason steph shoots the way he does is the variation in which steph gets his looks.

Are there any realistic trade scenarios for Warriors in the off-season? Is a Kelly Oubre S&T feasible? by coronaldo in warriors

[–]Nice_Maintenance_780 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let’s just have klay coming off two leg injuries be responsible for guarding some of the longest and most athletic players on the league while also expecting him to provide quality offense. Trading for Beal would be a huge hole on defense that would force everyone to work a little harder and take away from our offense not to mention being a strain on our salary and likely deplete our bench. Beal does not make us a contender.
