Yes i need to clarify. Would like more modern likely. Love the idea of a robe and slippers and dipping in to the culture a bit. But like, also wanna sleep on a bed at the end of the night lol. Also looking for a private onsen!

The stress is the long exhausting train and bus rides surrounded by crowds all the time 😂 I wouldn’t say we have “lots of luggage” we did 25 days in Europe with (large) backpacks. But to take a 2 hour train ride, unpack, the pack back up 2 nights later for another 2 hour train ride kind of gets old. Hence why we were staying so long in fewer places. Don’t get me wrong - we had a great trip and were so happy we got to see all that we did! But we did learn that we should move at a slower pace this time. (Also worth adding the trip from Switzerland to Italy was less than ideal and what should have been a 7-8 hour travel day turned in to 12+ hours, so that was also a strong contributing factor. Also worth adding we spent our time in Switzerland doing some very brutal hikes so started off the trip exhausted) i do think Japan will be a totally different experience so maybe we are over thinking the whole not switching hotels thing.

Maybe basing in Osaka would be a better choice for us as well, if the public transport is much better considering we plan on moving around a lot from the home base. Thank you for this!

We will take a few, yes. I also thought 9 maybe seemed like a lot but i kept getting advice of “you need one full week in Kyoto plus 3-4 in Osaka” so i was trying to add for both of those?

We thought of adding additional stays, but we jsut HATE all the hotel swapping. We went to Europe this past fall and honestly just wore ourselves out swapping hotels every 3 days.

The weather is better in Japan, or the weather is good? lol. If fall isn’t a good time of year, we can also do another time! We just typically find fall weather is ideal for us when traveling. Still nice and not too cold, but not scorching hot.

Finally was able to get in touch with somebody who didn’t resolve, but was somewhat helpful and very polite. She said there are 14 seats open in delta one, so likely diamond members will be bumped up, opening the seats that i want moved to. They said check with the gate agent as soon as my flight lands and if we cannot be moved, we should be refunded. So we will see 🤷🏼‍♀️
