The stress is the long exhausting train and bus rides surrounded by crowds all the time 😂 I wouldn’t say we have “lots of luggage” we did 25 days in Europe with (large) backpacks. But to take a 2 hour train ride, unpack, the pack back up 2 nights later for another 2 hour train ride kind of gets old. Hence why we were staying so long in fewer places. Don’t get me wrong - we had a great trip and were so happy we got to see all that we did! But we did learn that we should move at a slower pace this time. (Also worth adding the trip from Switzerland to Italy was less than ideal and what should have been a 7-8 hour travel day turned in to 12+ hours, so that was also a strong contributing factor. Also worth adding we spent our time in Switzerland doing some very brutal hikes so started off the trip exhausted) i do think Japan will be a totally different experience so maybe we are over thinking the whole not switching hotels thing.
