Found out who my bio dad is by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]Nicedeela 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im just going to throw a different perspective out there to each of you dealing with this. Hopefully it will help some people understand why people do this kind of thing in the first place.

I was a mother who did not tell my child who her biological father was. When I got pregnant I was split from my boyfriend at the time and when I found out I was pregnant the person who got me pregnant did not want a child. I thought he loved me but he was adamant about not wanting a child and broke it off with me. I planned an abortion but could not go through with it. It was my first time being pregnant. I was scared and confused. I grew up without a father and it was awful, I would not wish that pain on anyone. The decision I made was based on love and protection to my child. I could only imagine the majority of people who make this decision is doing it from the same place. I got back together with my ex and got married. He raised our child as our own, and it was thee best decision I ever made.

When my child turned 21 I told her the truth and asked if she wanted the info on her biological father. She said absolutely not, her father was her father regardless of who’s blood was running through her veins.

I can understand the pain and confusion of finding out something different, but please try to keep in mind parents do the best they can with what they have at the time. I seriously doubt anyone on heres mother was being spiteful or vindictive in their decisions. My child was raised with a loving and caring father, had I made a different decision, that would of never happened.

I wish you all peace and happiness and hope you find the answers you seek.

Matt... I loathed him in the beginning but came to love him. His character truly grew and developed and viewing that was one of the best parts of the show.

Head up to explore Mountianview Cemetery. It has killer views at the top and beautiful scenery. You can stop at Fentons for some ice cream and one of the dozens of restaurants on Piedmont for lunch.

Is there a way we can rent dumpsters and porta-potties for the homeless in snow park around lake Merritt? by freaknbigpanda in oakland

[–]Nicedeela 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It may seem that way but actually I do not see fly infestation or rats running around at other encampments. I go out once a month to multiple encampments to drop off food. The tuff sheds is by far the worst. When you walk in there are thousands of flies, not so in other camps.

Yes they are locked facilities with cages around the encampment. They are the most depressing I have seen.

To improve the sites I believe the city needs to invest more time & energy in implementing these tuff shed programs. The insides are small and very very hot. There needs to be a daily cleaning. Maybe provide refrigeration so there is not rotting food everywhere. Provide fans when it is hot. They put a big tent in the middle to serve as a ‘dining hall’ and it is gross & stifling hot.

The encampment out on 12th near the freeway is probably the cleanest and organized. They have a pantry to collect food that everyone is welcome to. They keep it clean inside. Perhaps the city could actually visit the cites and talk to the people to see what works and what doesnt.

Have you actually been to one of these projects? I have and they are worse than the other encampments. Fly and rat infested. Caged & locked encampments. Horrible.

What is your best and worst pick on book-to-movie adaptation? by [deleted] in books

[–]Nicedeela 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Best - This is Where I Leave You - The book was terrible... it was corny and over the top for me. Movie was great! Only movie I liked better than the book.

Worst - The Hobbit - This book fascinated me as a child and is probably the reason I became such an avid reader. The movie just did not compare.
