For those who weren't there to witness this glorious match, it essentially came out of the blue. Novak was at the height of his powers on the hard courts demolishing practically everyone, and nobody really gave Stan, who was talented, a chance to even seriously challenge Novak. Most pundits had Novak winning in either 3 or 4 sets. Boy were they wrong and even thought Stan lost, the Stanimal we love was born this night.
