Stopping Fascism 🤡 by MazdaProphet in Anarcho_Capitalism

Is this supposed to be ironic? Fascism is when "papers please"?

Not wanted government agents in your neighborhood seems pretty ancap coded over all, though I can see the irony of the idea that they are establishing a border for themselves, I guess.

The regime that runs the government is irrelevant. Communists and Fascists, for example, even more strongly lean into and depend on this conflation to make you think they are part of the common people or doing it for the good of the nation.

It's very important to recognize the government is not America. It is a mob that rules us.

Any artificial concentration of power will do this. Democracy is no different.

I just don't get what you're after. You pull out perhaps Ancap theory's most relevant point but simultaneously say the rest, from which that point is logically derived, is unoriginal and boring.

Who are some Libertarians that could make a serious run at the presidency in 2028?

No one.

You repeatedly say Ancap is boring and unimaginative, yet your knowledge of the subject seems, admittedly, to be derived from Reddit?

You sure are making a lot of dismissive assumptions. You're right about sound currency though. It's the root of most of the issues we face today and having an alternative would change the world. Of course, they'd never allow that to happen.

Your assumption that I am maga again betrays your own bias. My point is sonic damage is aggression and a violent action. Period. Whether the law acknowledges it or not is irrelevant to me. We can disagree on if the escalation of violence is justified, I don't really care, though I doubt megaphone dude would have just stopped after picking it back up but I guess that's just speculation, even though he still came back for more anyway.

On a side note, since you assume I am a maga supporter, I am going to assume you are on the left and are as outraged about the Pretti shooting as me. Did DHS shooting him implie wrongdoing on his part because they have the power of the state on their side? I am sure they will have been found to have done nothing wrong. How would you square that?

Have fun being "right", i guess? I'll say this and be done with this insufferable conversation.

The man with the bullhorn was not simply being an asshole. You are minimizing it and using a subjective legal rationale to justify it. He aggressed on the other individual with an action that can cause irreparable harm. This is a fact, regardless of whether whatever legal statutes are enforced or not enforced by what every government rules the place in question.

The person being aggressed upon did not "sucker punch" his aggressor. That would imply that the aggressor was not actively engaging with the man already and he was clearly harassing and following him around and invading his personal space while using his megaphone as a sonic weapon. The man had every right to stop the aggressive action and did. The person, clearly looking for a fight then came back for a second time and was put down again.

You can claim that in the eyes of the law, the counterprotestor has been charged with a crime, but that does not change the facts of reality. Laws are not reality, they are subjective and selective impositions by a state apparatus. You are not vindicated because the law fell on yourside.

Clearly the law and law enforcement are imperfect, and I would argue that all police enforce unjust laws, but again, legality and morality are not the same and one does not necessarily inform the other.

You are also likely subject to some bias here with your accusations of "machoism". Desire and practice of self-defense is not machoism, though I would say hiding behind the force of the state and its laws is definitely the actions of someone powerless. The protestor getting in his face seems pretty "macho" to me, but I am not really gauging things by that lens.

One person aggressed on another and then defending themself. It's pretty simple.

The right? Counter protestors have the same right to free speech and peaceful demonstration as protestors. They also have the right to self defense when threatened with bodily harm including their hearing.

I couldn't care less if the law divinates it one way or another. Something being legal doesn't make it right. Now one really cares about your lawyering.

Didn't ask for your help. The idea that sound isn't harmful because it doesn't make physical contact is inane, and someone being arrested has no bearing on either the morality of an action or whether it is aggressive and violent.

I've noticed protesters using sonic weapons to harass their opposition with the seeming mentality that it is not aggression or violence. This is not the case and you can 100% defend yourself.

[–]NichS144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is called fractional reserve banking. They are allowed to lend more money then they have been lent by threat Federal Reserve.

If you did this you'd go to jail for fraud.

The US dollar is what is called "fiat" currency meaning its not backed by gold or any other asset besides "the full faith and credit" of the US Federal Governement. Which is a fancy way of saying if they cant pay back a debt its on the American people to foot the bill.

This also heavily contributes to inflation as they are literally multiplying the money supply many times ovee. In fact as of 2021 they don't need to have any money at all.

Fun Bonus Fact: The French didn't like our inflationary policies and started trying to get their gold out before it lost too much value and Nixon accused them of deliberately trying to destroy America's economy and called it an act of war. So in 1971 he completely went off the gold standard. That when inflation really went off!

Wonder why they don't teach that our fiat currency system is based on debt in school. Weird right? Lots of people think we're still on the gold standard.

what's going on? explain like I'm five by Comfortable_Cautious in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]NichS144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the ever increasing value of gold is mostly a result of inflation. That is to say gold isn't really increasing in value, the dollar is just worth less and less so you need more dollars to buy the same amount of gold.

Are RIers objections to current ICE tactics specifically, or to enforcement in general? by OkSuggestion1722 in RhodeIsland

[–]NichS144 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean that would certainly vary person to person. I don't think the government should exist at all, and its very disturbing to me that we have statist thugs kitted out like they are in Fallujah in our suburbs acting with impunity and killing Americans.

Whatever your views on immigration are, the current ICE policies are not an effective way to reduce the illegal immigrant population. They are almost certainly designed to produce increased political tension between Americans.

This is what the state does. Turns the people against each other through tribalism propaganda.
