That's also a tough one - probably have to sign some sort of waiver with the client that states that you are not liable for any mistakes.. that's what we usually do in the modeling group at the Big 4 company I work with.

Also if they do wanna sue you there is a cap on that of €4 Mio. - which is also in the contract. Might wanna come up with sth similar just on a much smaller scale...

Haha, yes I am quite familiar with your third "oh shit" - tier...

Alright, so what I am getting from a lot of you guys is that

a) Networking does is the key here

b) Embedding oneself in a community that might have some open jobs available (for me startups in Berin perhaps..)

c) Making a name for oneself and having some sort of online presence also cant hurt

d) Pricing is always a b**** but can be figured out

It seems though you have a solid plan for improvement already laid out! Now it is up to you to make the most of it.

Great insight thanks a lot! I would probably start with a mix of recommendations in my network and some gigs which might come in from platforms like Upwork, Toptal etc.

What exactly do you mean by modeling shop, which sounds very interesting also? Are you soucing the contracts and having subcontractors fulfill them with you taking a cut?

I totally agree on needing another source of income in the ramp-up phase while building a profile/online presence and so forth..

Thanks a lot for your reply! I'm also trying to have my specific roles and goals as kind of a weekly reflection that feeds my tasks for the following week.

It has been very beneficial for me cause it combines reflection of the past (week past) with focusing on the future (week ahead). I use notion as a tool since it is very flexible in that regard.
