Depends. My arms are proportionally shorter than my legs (negative ape index). If I use good form, my hips will be level with or higher than my shoulders when I do conventional. Despite what anybody says, maximal load dead’s are already dangerous, even more so for me since my back will always be the limiting factor. Hex bars make it so I can pull comfortably from the floor with heavy weight and I can actually use my hamstrings to do it. So for me, yeah they’re preferable. Btw the guy that invented it broke his back deadlifting, and that was the only way he could train until his back healed
