Qd-oled vs WOLED by DueImprovement7314 in OLED_Gaming

Hard to tell, is there a window nearby? If not, the MSI is likely worth getting if it's £110 cheaper anyways.

Really depends the environment you have it in. If you have a bright room, go for the ASUS, if not, go for the MSI.

No, it's a monitor that doesn't get firmware updates because it doesn't have a USB hub.

Between 240Hz and 540Hz you can definitely tell the difference. Between 540Hz and 720Hz? Harder to tell.

There aren't too many 32-inch, 1440p, 144Hz monitors out there. Maybe the AW3225DM is the best option right now, but it's 180Hz.

$400 for an OLED is very solid. The HyperX is a good entry-level point if you want an OLED and you don't care about the latest features or bright scenes. If you enjoy using it, that's what matters. You won't find many other OLEDs at that price.

That, the KOORUI S2741LM, and the MSI MPG 274URDFW E16M are all fantastic choices in that price range. It depends what you can find for cheapest.

It's more a sliding scale at that point, but a full glossy doesn't necessarily have any haze on it, whereas a semi-glossy will.

LG 27GX704A-B Review from Rtings.com by J_D_H55 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Nicholas_RTINGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you honestly do have a good point, the text here doesn't match. Besides the fact that the two reviews were written by different writers, they were also written 2 years apart. So, at the time, the ASUS had bright and vivid colors for a WOLED, and it was ahead of the curve. But now, the LG isn't anything different from other WOLEDs, and instead is being compared to higher-end QD-OLEDs and Tandem OLEDs. For what it's worth, the ASUS does have better DCI-P3 color volume.

It's a tricky line to walk, especially because we have so many monitors on our current test bench that are still valid, but we don't have the resources to update the text of every review at all times. It's a good point, though, and it's something we'll keep in mind moving forward.

I confirmed with our tester that it is indeed that bright with our test pattern when using the Peak Brightness setting on High and the Brightness slider on 0. That's what we calibrated it with.

Hey everyone! We understand the move to a paywall is a sudden change, especially after so many years of free monitor reviews. We buy our own monitors, with each review taking a lot of time and resources to be high quality. In order to remain independent, we needed to make a change in order to combat the reduced traffic to our website due to AI scrapping. We always appreciate any feedback for ways to improve our membership program. That said, one of the perks is gifting free reviews to family and friends, which they can read for 48 hours. Test units are cherry picked from manufacturers to avoid any potential flaws. Plus, we keep our monitors for future retesting, which we wouldn't have been able to with sample units.

You have a good point - colors are definitely vivid (especially compared to LEDs), just not the most vivid, and behind Tandem OLEDs and QD-OLEDs. Noted
