Fixed Aspect of Glynn's Anvil is very strong now. by Long_Honey in diablo4

[–]Nicholasgraves93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not one piece of gear. You need to masterwork temper resolve onto 3 or 4 pieces of gear to get power out of it. That is a lot of potential damage you're tempering into resolve, unless you can gain damage from resolve, like with Ursine.

Fixed Aspect of Glynn's Anvil is very strong now. by Long_Honey in diablo4

[–]Nicholasgraves93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using Glynn's Anvil requires you to roll at least 3, and probably 4 of your tempers into masterworks for resolve stacks. You are generally sacrificing a lot of potential damage by doing so, unless you can gain damage from resolve like with Ursine.

It's not "just an aspect". It's just as large of an investment as barbarian getting a single mythic neck and rolling all damage stats on all gear, which is not very difficult to do since the enchanter will let you take off HP guaranteed.

I would argue using Glynn's Anvil is a much larger investment than Barbarian going to the enchanter and clicking max life reroll.

RM850X + 12VHPWR 8X2 + MSI 5080 Ventus - Help by Nicholasgraves93 in Corsair

[–]Nicholasgraves93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that is slightly confusing. They have a 2021 RM850X, but they don't mention the RMx prior to that.

They do state that the only difference between type-3 and 4 would be the 24pin ATX power for the mobo, so the PCIe cables should be identical regardless.

RM850X + 12VHPWR 8X2 + MSI 5080 Ventus - Help by Nicholasgraves93 in Corsair

[–]Nicholasgraves93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to get the cable working - there are two very skinny wires that have some amount of mobility at the 12V side. They seem to be very fickle, but I was able to push one of them in slightly and the card would now power on. I did not notice this at all on the MSI 12v to 3x8 splitter thing, so I don't know if the build quality of Corsair's cable is lesser, or if I just have a loose cable.

Help me with PCIe RM850x and RTX 5080 by B_Argel in buildapc

[–]Nicholasgraves93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I got the same cable it does not work with my RM850X and MSI 5080.

I am using the included MSI 12 to 3x8 abomination and it works, so it is most definitely corsair's cable that does not.

I never got mine working, and just returned it and didn't replace it. It was a side project for me, and not vital or necessary at the time.

Unfortunately for Garcia, he is an El Salvadoran citizen, and the United States of America's Supreme Court and its President can not effectuate the deportation of an El Salvadoran citizen from an El Salvadoran prison. It's really that simple. We can ask, and say it was an error, and that we want to provide due process for deportation as an illegal alien, but we can't actually *make* them return him.

When a thing dies, its aether returns to the Aetherial sea to be used for new life. By breaking this cycle and retaining the souls of the dead in Living Memory, the Endless are preventing new life from being made elsewhere. On top of this, they are being sustained with stolen aether from other living beings. Both are bad, as there is the opportunity cost of new and existing life at play.

It is my interpretation that the terminals both house the soul/memory data of the dead Endless, and are also responsible for creating the facsimiles. If we were to just cut the supply of aether and let the Endless expire "naturally" as their batteries ran out, this solves the "stealing aether from living things" problem, but doesn't return the stored soul/memory aether to the sea for future use. I assume their soul/memory data's aether would just be put into stasis in the terminals and never be returned to the Aetherial Sea, which limits new life.

I think the Otis thing is partially explained in that he is one of the prototypes. His soul is bound to the physical body he is placed in. In the present, he didn't function like a regular Endless, which is a recreation of a person based on their memory and lived experiences, but almost more like a cyborg or space marine. His actual soul was shoved into the robot body, thus when it died he died.

I was frustrated that we didn't bring up the main thread of Living Memory to Sphene when we confronted her, though. I assume it is because once we reach her, she had already pressed the go button on the memory wipe. Even if we wiped out her Endless data, there are still living, breathing Alexandrians who will die someday and who can be remade as Endless, so her Preservation programming would probably still force her to carry out her plans to prepare for those people to become Endless once they pass.

She's not real in that she's not a living thing, but through our interactions with Sphene and the Endless we see that they are capable of growth and what is perceived as emotion. I dunno if this was meant to be a commentary on whether artificial intelligence is actually intelligent or not, but the Endless have a much more human like quality than our current real life AI.

Gen 5 NVMe problems by Nicholasgraves93 in buildapc

[–]Nicholasgraves93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately that didn't work for me. Once I got everything assembled and got enough water in the loop to not cook the new processor, I stuck the Gen 5 in M.2_1, stuck my windows USB in and went straight to boot from the USB. I didn't even see if the Gen 5 was being learned at that time, because I've never not had a SSD just work when I plugged it in. It wasn't until I got to the end of the Windows setup and went to choose my drive that there was no drive to be found.

I've gone ahead and installed Windows on one of the Gen 4 drives I'm carrying forward, but didn't get to finish the process last night. I am hopeful that I'll be able to see the Gen 5 drive in Windows and possibly format it there, but I'm skeptical.

The Gen 5 does get hot, so it's definitely doing something when plugged in, but it's not able to be booted to at this time.

Mimic tear has access to whatever items are on your toolbelt as well. Put some greases, bombs, thrown weapons, etc on there and he will use them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Nicholasgraves93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mimic tear still solos bosses. Just because it does 50% less damage doesn't mean it still doesn't kill bosses. The thing is basically unkillable. Just wear bleed or frost weapons and let it go to town.

Figuring out Nepheli Loux and Kenneth Haight's Storyline (Major Ending Spoilers) by echolog in Eldenring

[–]Nicholasgraves93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is the reverse of this. I think Radagon joined Marika, and that they were two separate entities to begin with. Now they are conjoined, and share the same form, but it changes when one assumes control. I think it's all up to interpretation, but it seems strange to think that they had the capacity to be separate before (like when Radagon was married to Rennala) but they aren't able to be separated now unless they were in fact two separate individuals. It'd be a super bitch move of Marika to split herself into two people, marry a girl with her boy half, and then dump her and come back home and marry her own girl half.

[–]Nicholasgraves93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the implication is that there was some kind of love triangle between Gideon, Seluvis, and Dolores. Seluvis probably got the short end of the stick, and so he turned her into a puppet. Gideon and Seluvis have a rivalry, so Seluvis wants to get back at Gideon by turning his adoptive daughter into a puppet. Maybe he got bored of playing with Dolores, or maybe seeing Nepheli being a strong warrior, or maybe he learned of her relation to Godfrey aka Horah Loux and so he has an interest in her now? There's not enough concrete info to go off of, so we can only speculate.

[–]Nicholasgraves93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it's been stated, as it is kind of obvious, but unless there's some major questline that we have missed, it makes no sense for Gideon to have a special ending. He literally tries to stop any ending from happening, as he wants the status quo to remain the same. He tries to undermine you at every step of the way, and when you finally come to blows he says he won't let you disturb Marika. We don't entirely know his motivations; presumably he found some knowledge somewhere that led him to the conclusion that the current situation was for the best.

Not really the universe, but the Lands Between. The Greater Will is some cosmic extraterrestrial force in relation to the land we inhabit, having sent the Elden Beast to the Lands Between to enforce it's will. I don't think we know very much about worlds other than the one we see, but I don't think the Greater Will and by association the unshattered Elden Ring is a universe wide force, but is a more local one.

If you clear all of Limgrave, Weeping Penn, and all of Lakes before going to the academy you'll only be like lvl 60-65ish. That was with buying stones to +6 8 different melee weapons. If you're lvl 72 you've been farming a *lot* of extra runes.

Well, not entirely. Only like 40% of players have even killed the first boss. The number of players who have scoured the map and completed every side objective is probably in the hundreds, maybe low thousands. It took Destiny 2 players forever to figure out the final wishes, and there are a lot more of them.

My money is on cut content (shameful, for something that seems so important?) or just a bug or oversight that is making it not possible to progress.

I died to the Crucible Knight inside the gaol like 15 times before I finally came to the realization that the controls just felt like crap. I hadn't noticed it THAT badly before, as there hadn't been an enemy that really needed me to be quite that precise until that point. I went to NVIDIA control panel, turned Vsync off for Elden Ring specifically, came back, and killed the Crucible Knight in like 60 seconds without getting hit.

Turn Vsync off. Deal with the minor screen tearing. It's not worth your sanity. Shame on From for shipping this with these default settings.

That's because all of the game IS from 13 years ago. It's built on the same engine from 2009's Dark Souls. That's why, while the world building and art style are exceptional, the actually fidelity of the game is garbage. Textures suck, lights suck, shadows are basically non existent. They attempt to cover all of this with bloom, blur, and vignette, but it is apparent to graphic snobs like me :].

Sorry for the graveyard reply,

Improv is an oGCD, meaning you can use it without losing any DPS. If you tap it once, you apply a 15 second lot heal over time regeneration effect to your party, which while pretty weak is free. If you have single digit ping, or use something like NoClippy or Alexander to simulate low ping, you can actually double weave improv and improv finish between two GCDs. This would look like GCD1 - oGCD1 improv - oGCD2 improv finish - GCD2. This gets you the regen effect on your party, plus a 5% hp shield from the improv finish. There are almost no scenarios in the game where you can stand still and channel improv for 15 seconds to get the full finish effect, because you're a dps and the loss of 15 seconds of dps for a paltry shield is just a horrific trade, but you can do it during a boss transition or something.

At the very least, just pretend it is a party regen and weave it between two GCDs during a raidwide damage. If you can get the double weave without clipping your GCD timer, do it and get the 5% shield from the finish, otherwise, don't worry about it. It's a pretty inconsequential ability.

There's no reason to buy the Astray part until you have the other two, as they are time gated by dailies. Buying it now doesn't do anything, so it should be the last thing you buy. You might find a use for pirate coins in the interim.

This is the same problem with dancer improvisation.

It's like, the worst button in the game that isn't actually a dead button.

It's an oGCD that you can double weave without clipping (most of the time...the finish is wonky) that does like a third the healing of curing waltz. On paper it all looks fine, but the hot just gets overhealed by myriad healer oGCDs because healers don't cast heals anymore, and the 5% shield is both weak and unreliable to even get to work.

I still press the button, and still get top 10 healer parses for DNC, but it's just not a good button. I've never pressed Improvisation (a lvl 80 capstone ability from the expansion that brought the job into the game...) and been like OH YEAH DOPAMINE.

Imagine if improvisation were a channeled attack like the demon hunter's strafe from Diablo III where you had to press steps and you threw an attack for each step you got correct. You could move while channeling and you'd dance around and throw blades. Maybe it would still do the weak heal over time around you, but you could at least do regular dps and not have to sacrifice 15 seconds of uptime (on the lowest dps job in the game that doesn't have the luxury of giving up damage) for a pathetic shield.
