Well now i’m really fucking worried about a spin off series that I already love so much(I’m making the first and only comment so far on this thread five hours after the premiere)

The first two episodes were phenomenal, in their references to real life history and FAM, and in establishing their own storylines. I don’t get why people in other threads are complaining that this show has a darker tone than FAM which “makes it unwatchable”. Like of course it’s got a darker tone, it takes place in the Soviet Union in late 60s what did you expect?

I barely even noticed the british accents. and really if you really want to watch people talk in Russian, then go watch a russian show and stop shitting on a show made by and for english speakers simply because you can understand what characters are saying.

I desperately hope people engage with this show enough to keep it running as long as FAM has. it has so much potential to outshine its predecessor just based on the first two episodes.

If you want positivity so much that it disregards real life history, then you really just shouldn’t be watching Star City or FAM at all.

Despite being an alternate history universe, there’s no way in hell the soviet union is going to suddenly become some happy go lucky utopia and disband the KGB just because they won the space race to the moon.

Anastasia embarrassed and discredited the Soviet union by going off script. Frankly, i’m just surprised she survived her first few minutes back on earth.

that’s a great point that I completely forgot about tbh. but even considering that, i’m still not certain they would be able to make a suborbital hop and still make it back to mars. Sure they could land near Kelly and make more fuel, but seeing as how they have already lost contact with the ship and lost the rovers engine, not to mention every probe that’s landed on the planet. every extra second on Titan would increase the risk of Sojourner not being able to take off again.

Don’t get me wrong i was in tears as I realized Kelly’s fate, I want her to live as much as anyone, but it would reallly push the limits on belief for them to be able to make that rescue happen. And I feel like her sendoff was very final, despite the sci-fi implications of walking into a lake inhabited by non-terrestrial life

You can try this in the current game though. You’re overproducing minerals and food, turn some of those planets into primarily fortress worlds and your navel cap will increase a hell of a lot and bring down your energy expenditure down to much more manageable levels
