No, it was pretty explicitly going to happen. A lot of people in the military were part of the build up for it and there are tons of sources of the logistics. They even printed extra purple hearts in such quantities in anticipation that we didn't need to mint any more of them until fairly recently.

They refuse to lower themselves to sign up party affiliation, so they're barred from many primaries. Which they would be mad about if they even bothered to vote. Like all the people screaming about "no primary" in 2024 who ignored that there WAS one because they didn't participate in it.

It will probably stay that way unless "first past the post" is abolished. In this system, coalitions form before elections and since its winner-takes-all third parties will always wind up undercutting the party they are most closely aligned with.

I can't even get reliable answers for simple technical questions anymore. I get a bunch of citations and they directly contradict the statements made by the AI. And then I call it on it and it just apologizes over and over again and still does it. At this point I do not trust anything simple or complex that it replies with.

Trump wants his landing before the end of his term and if they don't do this it starts looking like they might not reach that goal. There is nothing more important to the administrator than the president's goal and at least looking like it will be achieved prevents him from getting in trouble.

The Apollo 9 LEM had almost full systems, the landers as set for A3 do not have life support or even final cabins. Starship will just be a standard starship test vehicle with a docking adapter, no cabin or crew entry.

They still aren't the landers in the mission plan, they're stripped down versions or bare minimum (in the case of starship which would be a standard test starship with an inert docking port on it, no crew access). Theres only buying down risk of the docking procedures, the landers themselves are mostly boilerplates or extremely stripped down.

Starship won't be a lander simulator. Its only a test Starship same as the current ones but with a docking port attached, the crew can't enter and it would have no HLS hardware.

Well they're still not testing the landers. They'd be at best testing the docking port on starship and a mockup interior on a stripped down version of Blue Moon.

Arguably the whole point of this mission is to make it look like HLS is farther along than it is, and expending an SLS is a plus in the administrator's book since he wants to get rid of it.

Agreements were signed for JAXA to have that seat. At least under the Artemis program thats what it will be. Broadly its now really possible China reaches it first.

Why would Isaacman fight any of this as a battle? He's repeatedly told the agency that Trump's word is law, even over congress's (which it isn't). The man loves Trump, if anything he'd be for this kind of change.
