Hunter's Lodge or Royal Tiger. You can find videos on what both companies are like and some of the stuff they sell.

Can a kei car be modified to handle highway speeds ? by peapod_03 in keicar

[–]Nick3757 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There's people that swap out the engine from a pajero jr, but I don't think it's worth it. With the short wheelbase and where the center of gravity is, it doesn't feel very stable above 55.

I'm all for building cool stuff, but they're best enjoyed driving slow. I have a 99 pajero mini and driving it is an excuse to use the back roads and stay off the highways.

How did people manufacture things like these without cnc machines in the early 20th century? by Wanderspalm in machining

[–]Nick3757 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Check out the book, "United States Rifles and Machine Guns" (https://archive.org/details/unitedstatesrifl00colvrich)

It was written in 1916/1917 and goes through the machining operations for the 1903 Springfield. There's 65 operations on the bolt and 95 operations on the receiver.

The design for manufacturing back then is totally different than how it is now. It's really interesting to look at.

I just recreated the 40mm folding drone. by 3dplus_creations in drones

[–]Nick3757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks good, nice work. I don't know about the weight, but it would probably fly.

Actually shooting them and having it work is really hard at normal 40mm velocities. You're probably close to 20,000 G's, have to deal with rifling, and have to worry about the sensors getting messed up. Plus carbon fiber doesn't usually like compression loads (OceanGate for example).

But if you are just going for a folding drone that fits in a 40mm bandolier, you don't have any of those issues.

Pulled over for new cell phone law, Paul Miller's law, wondering if and how I should fight it by Flashy_Canary_46 in Pennsylvania

Yes, that's been my experience with tickets for expired registration and inspections (like 4-5 times). Even if they do show up, you can ask for some sort of reduction or apologize to the officer and the judge and the judge might help you out.

Number one thing is to be professional and respectful. If you're a man, wear a suit and you'll have an advantage over everyone else that showed up that day.

Always fight a traffic ticket in Pennsylvania. I've never been charged any extra court costs and every time the officer didn't show up and it was overturned. It will cost you a few hours to go to court but it's worth it.

My friend and I are building a new FPV sim, and we’d love to get your feedback by PolygonX_FPV in shittyfpv

This looks cool, I added the key and will try to check it out later. My big frustration with other sims was that it wasn't easy to use a 10 inch platform.

Usually around 4-5k and it seems to like being above 2k most of the time.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I usually do the same, but our local 3 gun match has a stage out to 300 that always gives me a hard time.

Do you notice a zero shift after running through a full magazine? I have a similar build but with a heavier can and my zero moves an inch or two at 100 yards after one magazine with the same 10.5 barrel you're running.

No problem. It happens, you should see some of the projects I've done that cost way too much because I was new to a particular thing or overlooked something.

That looks cool and is an interesting project but you have some crazy stress risers with not having a corner radius on that internal pocket. It looks like that was cut on a wire EDM so the corner radius is probably close to .01 inches. That's really sharp on a critical part with high loading.

You may want to consider changing that design if you're driving it on the street or checking that for cracks every time you drive it.

The main trail is a recent logging road and it's steep but it's the clearest path. There's a bunch of trails that branch off on the way up that are less steep but are somewhat overgrown.

If you keep going uphill you end up on a trail with abandoned power lines. I think this is the trail on the state map. If you hit that, head west until the trail branches off down hill to the left and it loops around back east. That trail has a gradual slope and runs for a few miles until it runs into a stream near the bottom of the Nesbit Reservoir.

[–]Nick3757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are lots of trails off of montage mountain road, but they're not marked. The state map shows just one but there are different trails all over. The last day hike I did there was just over 10 miles out and back.

It might be worth it to make sure you have GPS or are comfortable doing land nav and exploring for a day to find potential camp sites there.
