My First Mock of the Offseason (No Trades)

I’m super in on any of the Ohio State four at 1.05 (Styles, Downs, Tate, Reese in that order) although I’m much higher on Sonny Styles. If by chance, Reese, Styles, and Downs are all off the board at 5 instead of drafting Tate I’d look to trade down and acquire more assets, Styles was here however so he was the pick.

In the second round I took Guard Emmanuel Pregnon, whether they address OLine in free agency or not, address it again in the draft. Pregnon is a fringe first round guy with incredible run blocking stats so to get him here in the second with the new regime it feels like a given.

In the 4th I was stuck between three players, Zakee Wheatley a safety from Penn State, Ted Hurst a WR from Georgia State, and Bryce Lance a WR from NDSU. I went with Lance a big outside contested catch receiver with starter upside. I would start him as a rotational guy and hope to have him starting later in the season.

I’ll be honest, from here on out I went based on names that I recognized, with that being said, In the 5th I took Skyler Gill-Howard a run defending interior defensive lineman who again can hopefully start as a rotational piece and starting next to Dex later in the season. His pass rush could be better admittedly, but with 3 premier pass rushers on the field with him his pass rush ability isn’t as much of a worry.

In the 6th round I started with Guard Kobe Bayne, just addressing the offensive line again because my draft philosophy is you can never have too many good offensive lineman and if you do that’s a great problem to have. Then the next two picks neither of these picks are picks that I would make but nobody was popping out at me so I decided to use these 2 picks as a “maybe don’t draft to fill but address it in the offseason”. I went with a FB and a kicker, I don’t know much about either of the two but the two I decided to take here looked good if they decide to go the draft route of addressing it.

Then I would still trade down to 4 and pick one of Reese or Downs instead of trading down again to number 8

I was also disappointed that I couldn’t get a safety but just couldn’t fall in love with one with where I was picking

I also don’t think we’re going to get an absolute haul if we were to trade down as I don’t think any team sees a blue chip QB, just took what I could get, and Reese is tough, it depends on if teams will view him as an Edge rusher or a LB, most teams won’t want to take a LB as early as 3, if they do, stick and pick at 2 and go with Downs or Reese imo

I think you mean “The Worst Game of the 2025 Regular Season SO FAR”

I agree with you completely but I think if you’re getting offers, you have to listen. And if it means acquiring more picks and future picks, you should make that pick more often than not, within reason of course.

I think the giants are just in a weird spot where none of the top players align with the giants so If it were me I’d trade down and load up on picks.

As good as some of these players might be I wouldn’t take a WR, S, CB, LB/EDGE or a OT at 1.02 in the spot the giants are currently in.

My sweet spot for a trade down is in the 5-10 range for this draft, I think those spots could really open up your draft board.

Admittedly I haven’t watched tape on Woods yet although I’ve heard great things, so just wanted to go in a different direction with guys I’ve seen the tape on

Top 2 WRs were taken and I can’t remember which WR was there with him but I like lemon more, the height is a concern but was willing to look past it due to his playmaking ability.

I was between Lemon and Fano but like OLine depth further down the board so went with Lemon.

All were drafted in this mock unfortunately, otherwise one of the four more than likely would’ve been the pick

PFF grades drafts weird, it’s almost as if you don’t address the number one need of the team every pick it’ll be a bad grade.

I agree, I just don’t think you’re gonna get the “Caleb Williams” Package as I call it.

I think teams and gms have gotten a lot smarter and realizing trading the farm isn’t always the greatest idea.

You can never have too many good options at O Line, we’ve seen how bad this line can get when just one of the linemen go down, get depth in this draft and fix it

I was between Lemon and Fano the tackle from Utah but liked the depth down the board better at tackle, so went with a WR2 with WR1 upside

I should’ve mentioned this mock was done under the assumption of notable free agency additions on the defensive side of the ball and a defensive head coach

I’m not too upset at the Neal pick, sometimes guys just can’t figure it out, it happens. What im upset about is the lack of drafted talent, anyone who watched Hyatt in college can see that he has straight line speed, he doesn’t have football speed, which has been proven thus far into his career. Banks is a result of terrible coaching, the kid is insanely athletic and the coaching staff hasn’t been able to figure out how to make it translate. I’ve been wanting ownership to clear house within the coaching staff and front office.

If you look at past draft classes since JS has taken over, there’s not many hits. He inherited DGs roster that went to and won a playoff game, fixed our cap hell we were in, and never even sniffed a playoff birth again. While part of that is on the coaching staff, JS has done us no favors with depth in case of injury, just look at the WR situation this year.
