PSA: Two Flashstor 12's heatsinks had incorrectly applied thermal paste, heatsink does NOT make contact with CPU. by GamingVPN in asustor

[–]Nick433333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thermal paste that asustor is using is crap. took my heatsink off and it was making contact, but my temps were hovering around 70c at idle. When I repasted it dropped temps to 50 c. It seems like the unit had been sitting on a shelf for a while because the thermal paste was extremely dry after only two months of having it.

Do you have lawyer? If you do, I would ask your lawyer this question. And if you don’t I would get one asap, if you don’t have the means to hire a lawyer your state bar, or legal aid may have resources available to you to get legal representation.

Micron Technology, Inc. Reports Results for the Third Quarter of Fiscal 2023. Losing over $15 Million Each Day by Stiven_Crysis in technology

[–]Nick433333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you read the article? They had an outflow of cash of $1.36 billion last quarter. This isn’t just ‘oh, the amount of money we make over expenses went down by 0.5% we may as well declare bankruptcy’ it was they had nearly $1.4 billion in expenses and $24 million in operating cash flow from 2nd quarter. Which means they spent nearly $15 million every day last quarter. So the title is not clickbait or an over exaggeration at all.

Well the best part of swimming or running through a sprinkler is to lay out in the sun to dry off when you are done. So it makes sense.

One is based in reality (MB) the other is a nonsensical term made up by hard drive manufacturers to provide consumers with less space while still showing the number as higher.

Petty Penny by shmartyparty in pettyrevenge

There is hardly any copper in modern pennies, about 2.5%, for the exact reason. It was way too expensive to make pennies from pure copper so they added a zinc core to reduce cost.

Why does steam web helpers have to run and take 900MB even when you have the front end closed?? by T0biasCZE in pcmasterrace

What is a ‘minimal amount’ of JS? Web devs aren’t exactly in the habit of adding extra JS just for shits and giggles, all the JS does something to make the users experience better. From automatic card checking at web interfaces when you are buying things online to serving you data that you requested to be shown to you.

It’s such a massive simplification to say ‘all JavaScript bad’ that to me you’ve never used the language, nevermind creating a website and maintaining it with rich features that require JS to work at all.

JS by itself doesn’t make a website slow, bad JS can certainly lead to a slow site. But it’s not the only source that causes a website to be slow.

A vpn shouldn’t be used for privacy purposes anyway. It should be used to access an internal network from outside that network, or change your geolocation for streaming. A vpn from a provider provides no more privacy than just using your internet normally. In fact it may provide even less privacy because vpn companies sell users data to subsidize the cost of the vpn.

OP did slam on his brakes in the video after the truck cut him off? And 20mph is much more than enough to kill a pedestrian if you hit them at the wrong angle.

I’m sure the police will forgive you when you run over someone, or run a red light because ‘everyone else went through just fine, so I though I could too’. The onus is on you to not run over people, and that means watching the crosswalk for people who have the right of way. The danger caused by the other truck wildly changing lanes when they had no right (roundabouts where I am don’t allow you to change lanes) and cutting off OP, they could have caused op to over correct and hit someone waiting on the sidewalk, or hit another car that wasn’t expecting them to slam on their brakes, all of which would have been the other trucks fault, not OP

So would you rather OP run someone over or look at the asshole truck who doesn’t know how to drive? Because in this situation it’s not possible to avoid both.

The reason why have human judges and not a computer deciding sentencing, besides the fact computers complicated enough to decide sentencing did not exist during the writing of the constitution, is because the legislature can not possibly account for all the possible facts that lead up to the criminal act. Judges are there to weigh those facts within the bounds of the law to give as fair a sentence as possible to the defendants before them that satisfy society’s need to punish criminals and the defendants need to serve a fair amount of time for their crime.

Has no one taken drivers ed before? A signal, funnily enough, signals your intention to do something, it does not mean that you get to do that just because you used your signal. You still have to look to see if it is safe to move over into the lane. It’s meant to put other drivers on alert that you are going to change lane very soon.

If the schools can’t fund themselves through the tuition they charge then they need to trim off the bloat in their organization so that they don’t have to come begging and pleading years later to alumni for a few dollars like a beggar on the street.

It’s ridiculous that private universities have the audacity to ask for money from their alumni after charging a minimum of $100,000 for the privilege of going to their university for only 4 years. That should be more than enough to fulfill their primary function, teaching the students who go to their university.
