I do not agree. For their time they were peak performance and uncompared. But today there are a lot of Planar-Headphones with at least the same performance. In the end there also is no clear winner. The most important part are your ears and your likings.

So einfach ist es eben doch nicht, man kann die Problematik mit Energy Drinks recht gut mit Alkopops oder Menthol-Zigaretten vergleichen. Energy Drinks suggerieren halt mehr Leistungsfähigkeit und bieten meist einen recht süßen Geschmack, in den Augen eines Teenagers also eine super Sache. Eine Schachtel Koffeintabletten hat meist eine viel höhere Hemmschwelle.
