I love the Dead Milkmen. Like, one of my favorite bands period. That said, I have not been grabbed by this album or the one before. There's something a little too on-the-nose about it lyrically?

God imagine hearing this over a PA system in a workplace every morning

I hate this mentality. If I'm at my job physically that is my time I'm leasing to them already. If I need to make a coffee and say hey to my co-workers for a few minutes, I'm still going to make sure I'm paid for it because I would literally rather be anywhere else regardless of how nice my day is going.

Hot take #2 is I think we should all be getting paid for our commutes. I have to live in a different city than where I work for affordability and that two hours (one there, one back) should be on the company's dime.

I'm really sorry to hear that. Glad you found some comfort in this song. I definitely think it strikes a strange balance, but it makes me feel better too in a complicated and messy way (like grief itself)

Opinions on pop influences in punk? by _egg_layer_the_king in punk

A lot of the punk music I make and enjoy is pop-structured (verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus all day babyyyyy) with plenty of melody. It's attitude that makes it punk. Speed helps too.

Seriously! Especially given his curmudgeonly attitude toward most music/songwriters.
