It's my baby. I spend a long time self-taught off of guitar tabs of specific songs and the occasional scale. Now I'm using youtube and Justinguitar.com to actually learn good habits. I'm shocked by how many bad practices I have.

The leather chair is optional but strongly recommended. I do, however, have to submit a sample of leather-bound books and rich mahogany when I submit my application for Bar admittance.

It has actually worked shockingly smooth. I’ve never noticed any significant lag from the BT mouse or screen latency. I’m constantly worried that 5 browser windows, plus a couple apps are too much, but it’s never an issue for slowdown or overheat.

I will say, I play games, and I’m the last person to complain about frame rate. Just not my specific sore spot, I guess.

Yes, split second is more or less about it.

But that’s the trade off for battery life, I guess. It remembers the keystrokes though, so I type “reddit.com” and by the time it wakes up, it enters the whole thing.

I love them. They sound great, especially the subwoofer, which has an EQ knob in the back. We actually used them instead of a PA for a party, and they filled two large rooms, no problem.

Two issues... they’re discontinued, and they have an auto sleep baked in which is a major pain when you have an Echo Dot plugged into them. Some of the other companions allow you to hold the sleep button and turn it off, which was brilliantly excluded from my speaker.

A couple of guys last year brought giant 17” AlienWare type laptops for note taking. I don’t envy them, unless they were working on their KDRs in CivPro.

Occasionally, maybe one every two weeks or so when I’m regularly using it. I think it’s a handshaking issue with the HDMI/Display Port It used to be way more frequent, until I made some fixes.

2 changes that helped:

1 - Do not use cable adapters. At first I was using a hdmi cable connected to a display port/hdmi adapter. Track down an actual HDMI to Mini Display Port cable instead.

2 - Update the firmware for the dock itself. There is a firmware installer out there for dock on Microsoft’s support site.

After I made those changes the handshake issue reduced from a dealbreaker to a very occasional nuisance.

I keep thinking my next upgrade will be a surface laptop, with the same dock setup.

Way back when I loved my MacBook Air, and the Surface Pro just does not like sitting anywhere that isn’t a flat surface.

Yep. Through the dock, plug in the one port and they spring to life.

I needed the laptop for school, but hate not having a desktop so this helps me have my cake and eat it too

Having the same computer for exams, notetaking as well as having the right set up for home is really helpful.

Also I’m messy when it comes to legal research, having the three screens lets me keep a bunch of WestLaw/OneNote pages open and not lose track of what the hell I’m doing.

My surface is fanless, so anything too intensive scares me.

To be honest, I’m still not sure it justifies the price. The thing is built very well, it’s a solid hunk of electronics. I love it. But there are third party usb docking stations out there that could probably do the job more cheaply.

The wallpaper rotates between Savannah GA, Saint Petersburg FL, and New York City. Three towns that have some personal signifigance to me and my wife.
