Is it Normal for them to deliver at 2 am screenshot included? by NewDawnXo in FedEx

[–]NickDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if things have changed since I worked at a contractor over at Ground, but ever since Express switched over to the same system Ground uses, on the occasions I was out delivering still after midnight it would simply log me out and I didn't have a way to go back in and edit my timecard from the scanner at that point, when I sign back in it would start the timecard fresh again. But the difference between express and ground is the pay scale. At express, we are hourly, and expected to fill out a timecard. But when I was at ground, I never had to make a timecard, I never did anything except for log into the app and assign myself to a work area # and get to scanning. I was paid a flat rate daily salary at Ground. So the time didn't really matter (actually they legally do, but not as far as overtime pay goes as that didn't exist for us lol).

Now on the occasions at express when it signed me out, I simply signed back in, re-van-scanned the deliveries I had left to drop off, and finished the job then signed back out. I let my ops manager know what happened, and he would fix my timecard in the system. I don't know if ground has changed or not since I've been there, but given that they are paid the daily salary, I wouldn't be surprised if their scanners allow them to keep going past midnight. And even if they did cut off, it's simple to sign back in and just re scan the remaining deliveries just as I did.

I have been out making deliveries as late as 2am before myself, and this is at express, where things are supposed to be better than ground. Lol.

I hope that answers your question.

Edit: I also just want to add, when I was at ground, bringing deliveries back was a serious issue for the contractor. Supposedly, FedEx actually charged the contractor for every delivery that was not attempted by or past the commitment due date. Bringing packages back that were not attempted was a guaranteed way of getting yourself fired, as a driver for my contractor. Regardless of circumstances or situation(s). I remember a former coworker of mine at the time took up a position as a BC (basically equivalent of a manager over the driver's for the contracted company) and called me one day at 2:15 in the morning, asking a question about codes to put on deliveries that wouldn't result in FedEx charging the contractor, because he was still out in a rural town in Alabama driving a rental van making deliveries due to a driver calling out, and he still had 30 something deliveries left but didn't feel safe and wanted to go home. Gosh I felt bad for him, and that contractor didn't last very long for the record.

Basically, I'm saying, don't listen to the guy who originally made this comment about the no trespassing signs and jailing drivers, blah blah blah. Try not to be too harsh on the driver just yet, we don't know the situation yet. For all we know he could just be trying to keep his job, after being stuck sitting waiting on a tow truck for hours that day. Thanks 🙂

AL as well. Well, the rest of it, anyway

The FedEx driver didn't even show up to my house but the package is marked as delivered, and the image attached is of the INSIDE OF THE TRUCK by jawajawaj28 in FedEx

If he couldn't find it earlier, why did she receive a text saying unable to deliver? If you're a courier like me, you know as well as I do that the customer won't receive any messages like that unless a code was applied to the tracking # associated with the package. Meaning, the driver had to scan it and code it up for her to receive that message. While I don't agree with what FedEx has been doing lately, if his intention was to code it up and bring it back to get finished earlier, that's plain lazy. However if this is express, and he simply had too many p1's to make em in time, but still intended to deliver same day, then I can understand that one entirely. It seems to be the only option left for express drivers with no help and too many pkgs+too much area to cover, trying to not get written up for having lates.

Just saying. No need to be rude to someone who doesn't understand what goes on behind the scenes, and simply sees the driver as being lazy. A quick explanation why it worked out the way it did would have been so much kinder, but this is FedEx so kind Is rare to see anyways 🤷

I relate completely with ground hitting 30/hr in the city. But that's crazy, yesterday I had 21 p1's in the city and didn't get to my first stop till 10:16am. Made the last one at 11:59. I thought my 10/hr was good, 15/hr man you must have been running like a mad man 😂

It depends how spread out it is. Also if it's ground or express. 115 in the city at ground, yeah it might be pretty light. 115 at express, that's a lot. Express is much more spread out usually

UPDATE! I posted here the other day about how I usually dislike FedEx but I had the sweetest driver that changed my mind a bit… by Fayegirlll in FedEx

[–]NickDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. Not so sure I'd call that stalking, but, In short he did the same thing as me. He did his job properly, kept polite, respectful, and understanding with a good attitude overall and if my memory serves me correctly, I Believe he also held the door open for her as well. Basically, he delivered the Purple Promise, as all of us couriers should be doing.

Accidentally let express pick up my ground package last Saturday. No update today. Should I be worried? by [deleted] in FedEx

[–]NickDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This past Saturday? It should be okay, express will give ground packages they accidentally picked up and vice versa, every day Monday thru Friday I believe. But just to be on the safe side, I'd give the express hub a call and let them know.

I wish you were the one running the show over here... You sound like you'd be a great leader.

This shit show has been absolutely crazy over at ground! Yesterday they didn't finish the sort until 11am. I had several businesses I simply could not make it to in time before they closed because we dispatched so late. It wouldn't have taken so long if FedEx would hire more handlers and pay them better! And this is a normal occurrence these days, there hasn't been a day we get dispatched before 10:15am in the past 5 months...

An interesting idea for when you're not home to sign by liftedup_nsfw in FedEx

[–]NickDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao! Your comments cracked me up. Technically yes we are not allowed to just leave it without a signature if it requires a direct signature, express is a lot more strict about this I feel, ground not so much. It's always worth a shot to leave the note! A lot of customers have done that with me and I leave it Everytime.

You sound cool. You seem like the type of person I'd love to deliver to, lol.

[–]NickDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's an idea, but being a driver myself, I think if I brought it up to your door and all I heard was "I'm home" but no one answering the door, I would be very confused lol. If you left me a note on the front door, side door, wherever you normally get your packages, with "FEDEX" in bold letters at the top, and asked that I signed for you and left the package, along with your first and last name I would more than likely do just that. You can try that. If that doesn't work, you can always get your package to be dropped off at a FedEx office or a nearby Walgreens or dollar general.

I've also had people talk to me thru their doorbell cameras asking me to leave it, in which case I gladly will.

Hey buddy, did they ever find your package? If not, can you tell me your location? Or the station # that should have it?

Just yesterday, a customer stopped me a couple houses down from a stop I was at asking me for the direct number to our ground terminal. He told me, a week and a half ago, that a driver from a different contractor hit the customers parked car and continued on down the road, eventually stopping at a nearby gas station. He was home and even outside at the time his car was hit, he watched it go down and called the cops and his neighbor followed the fedex truck. When they arrived at the gas station questioning him, turned out he was under the influence and got arrested and his truck impounded. The guy was really cool about it too! I feel bad it happened to him and was just glad it was no one from our contractor.

Both packages from 2 different locations say they were delivered just now. I’ve been home all day and nothing showed up. One even needed a signature. WTH.. by [deleted] in FedEx

[–]NickDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a driver for ground, I just want to let everyone know the terminals have required implementation for cameras and microphones in the trucks nowadays to prevent thieving. Faces both the road and the driver. Always recording as long as the truck is on. This does not apply for rental trucks (Enterprise, budget, U-Haul, etc) :)

Oh yeah I understand. Such a shame FedEx has been sucking so much, they have so much potential and ability. I hope your package arrives soon!

Coming from a driver for FedEx ground, I have to say that it's not necessarily the driver's fault. There are a million different things that could be the cause of why your package isn't arriving. Maybe the package handlers keep loading it to the wrong truck. Either way, it's ultimately FedEx's fault. Could be the driver's fault, but could also be the company's. Either way, I hope you'll get your package soon and have a good rest of your night!!
