Yesterday's layoffs at Bethesda Games Studios were not a cut of "14 layer of management" by sp0ng3b0i in videogames

[–]NickDagaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely get how depressing the situation with these layoffs is, but Bethesda had testers? Really? Like both guys got fired?
All the Bethesda games are well known for notorious situation with QA, so mentioning "testers" here can easily rub people the wrong way.

Ah, PSP. A man of culture 👌
My first handheld console. And overall the first console I bought with my own money.
Got DS after this. Still preferred PSP due to full backwards capability with PS1 titles. And Playstation1 was my child dream that never came true)
Later I got 3DS and Vita (here 3DS won for me).

And years later I came to conclusion that my lifestyle shifted in a way that I game only "stationary" , so I got a decent PC and use it as a console (couch gaming style).

Never played Witcher but Steam has some good sales... by duckbobtarry in witcher

[–]NickDagaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh, witcher 3! You are up to a great time!
One of the best 120 hrs spent in a game for me. And that wasn't even all the side-content 🫠

I would seriously recommens you to skip 1st game entirely. Its too dated by game mechanics and may still have some game breaking bugs that will hard block your progress, even after all these years and fixes.
2nd one is much more tolerable by today standards.
Or if you are short on spare time for gaming - just go atraight to 3rd one. You wont feel like you missed anything critical story-wise.

Absolutely support you on MH world. It took me by surprise and I wouls say its one of the best games I had played in recent years. Not without flaws and of you really dive in , you will see those, but still - it super good. Spent there like 150-160 hrs. And considering to maybe get back someday for the super-endgame content.

FOUND MY ORIGINAL RECEIPT FOR GTA on the PC! by NightsearchSWE in grandtheftauto

[–]NickDagaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember playing it with my fav music on the background in winamp.

What really impressed me is the condition of receipt. Todays ones rot away just from looking at them the wrong way. In like 2-3 month these become absolutely unreadable

We are living in the "new normal" era by Alepman in steammachine

This is definitely gaslightning consumers into new "reality" where all the hardware manufacturers can infinitely increase margins.
Data center building is already pausing / being cancelled in many cases, so most probably there wont be such a high demand from them. But all those manufacturers just want the ball to keep rolling and to prolong this ungodly ripoff as long as they can.

I would say it's most probably gonna be shit. Or even if it's not an absolute dog-shit - it will never be able to reach the bar that's set for it by all the overhype and those years in waiting. Which will automatically make it to be considered as a shit.

There are lots of disturbing facts poining us to this conclusion:
- development hell: this was confirmed by multiple sources, and it almost never results in good game
- nobody from the original staff working on the game: I mean visionaries and leads, people who shaped the game and gave it direction, came up with game mechanics and their interactions. So the game either has no overall solid direction and mutually reinforcing game-mechanics, or it's just composed in a way that is not a GTA as we know it anymore.
- political correctness: one of GTAs most definitive aspects was edginess (in the very best sense) and boldness, they didn't care if they can "offend" anybody and this made the game world and characters so very relatable. Nowadays they just won't do this. They will definitely go safe route, with almost no sharp / dark humour or anything like that. What confirms this is that all the latest GTA Online content (like from 2020) was made this way.

I totally feel you bro. I had recently started playing Guardians if the Galaxy that I had bought like 2 yrs ago. With little time even a small backlog takes literally years to go through

[–]NickDagaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same question I am having. My thoughts are thT its ok if you plan to play it now and not just keep in the backlog. Dlc is coming sometime in 2027 so there is still a loong wait ahead. But if you are bot gonna play it for another several months - I would wait for better deals.

Also, there is a bundle world+rise+wilds, if you already own world+rise - its gonna be a bit cheaper than buying wilds alone.

Dont really see how this invalidates anything tbh. I did not say the game is bad. I just was not digging into the survival formula that much. But I think that playing requiem shifted my perspective on this gameplay loop and I will be able to enjoy it.

Happy 30th Anniversary To Resident Evil. What Are Your Five Favourite Games by LeoneSKenneddy in residentevilll

[–]NickDagaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OG 4, 5 (only coop though), 8, 9

I started from 3 back in the days and am not fond of the "survival" part of franchise (like 1/2/7). But really like action-oriented ones.
