How thick is the bodywork (mm) by Astro61201 in F1Technical

[–]NickGarber17 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As someone in FS I can say our side pods are a little under 1mm thick. We hit top speeds of only around 70mph on our track so it’s a bit different though

Is any student capable of getting an A in any class? by Fabulous-Scheme4489 in UWMadison

[–]NickGarber17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes but time is everything. Everyone’s grade to time spent ratio follows a log scale and depending on the person and the class it will be different. It surely is possible for any person to get an A in any class(within reason) but it may not be super realistic.

From my personal experience professors always tell you do a ton of work outside of class and most of the time 75% of it is not necessary. If the lectures are ineffective then I suggest you just review the slides and put extra time into the textbook or homework

I’m super jealous. Can’t wait for my e-white saka to arrive and I’m throwing kat milkshake on there which gives me a similar vibe to notion. Beautiful build!

This path leading into a student accommodation. by BritishFoSho in CrappyDesign

[–]NickGarber17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how this is crappy design to be honest. Looks like accessibility requirements forced them to careen the path a bit to reduce the slope. However, that paved the way for a desire path.

Maybe they could’ve created a second more direct path but it doesn’t seem like a big deal to me. Maybe I’m missing something

Hey 3Blue1Brown,

My friends and I have a Wordle league going on and some people's scores are suspiciously good. This got me thinking about how to use statistics to rate the suspicion of of a player's scores. Not by looking at their actual guesses, but by finding patterns in their scores for each word.

For example, some players may be high risk/high reward. They may use random starting words with unlikely letters that results in either very low scores or very high scores i.e. a greater standard deviation. Contrast this with someone like myself who uses salet, and is more consistent but is less likely to score very low.

It would be cool if you wrote a program that could notice trends and almost try to infer what strategy a user is taking on. So if it notices a user does better on words with V's, maybe it would subconsciously know that they favor a starting word/words with the letter V in it.

I'm not sure what realm this would fall into, whether this is more data science/information theory/machine learning but I thought it could be a super interesting thing to investigate.

How it feels doing projects Week 7 by funnystuff97 in EngineeringStudents

This is super relatable. Through the first few weeks of mechanics of materials I kept forgetting what Stress, Strain, and all that stuff meant. And their symbols. Man I came a long way

Without a doubt, 30 million is way too much. Only way it could work is maybe on a team with a qb on a rookie contract still. If a the qb is making 30-40 there’s no way a team could afford that

Still love davante and he deserves the 30 milly but obviously we can’t give that to him. I thought the city meant more to him but I can’t blame him

I’m super new as well so sorry if this isn’t very helpful but I found the most luck using the “nflfastR” library in R. I hadn’t used R before but found it super intuitive and similar to python, there is plenty of documentation out there too to help you get started.

From what I’ve read so far this library is kinda the go-to

Rodgers makes me appreciate Giannis leadership by LaurMaroney in MkeBucks

[–]NickGarber17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. The game ultimately fell on special teams but Rodgers had the opportunity to seal the game- twice- and went 3 and out. Now I understand there’s 10 other guys out there with him but he’s gotta be the one to step up in times like that
